We\’re seeking a Senior or Principal Technical Safety Engineer to join our clients\’ operational support team in the oil and gas industry, where your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring safety and compliance. Working within the client office, you will be a key focal point between client and EPC contractor.
Role Overview
- Ensure adherence to company standards and processes for technical safety and loss prevention activities.
- Support the client operations team with day-to-day activities.
- Deliver allocated activities and deliverables according to the project schedule.
- Gather and compile process safety and environmental information.
- Contribute to the preparation of a Safety Engineering Plan and Basis of Design.
- Participate in various Hazard Studies.
- Conduct Technical Safety Reviews including Human factors, Hazardous Area Classification, and Alarm Prioritisation.
- Notify line manager of any additional Technical Safety reviews needed due to scope changes or design development.
- Complete all required Technical Safety Reviews in line with the project schedule.
- Organize and file all project phase documentation for future reference.
- Assist the Lead Safety Engineer and project management with design HSE concerns.
- Provide Technical Safety assistance to other offices on an ad-hoc basis.
- Support client requests for specific Technical Safety activities, such as Hazop Scribe.
Skills & Qualifications
- HAZOPS: Proficient in conducting Hazard and Operability Studies.
- Consequence Modelling: Experience with software like PHAST is advantageous.
- Technical Safety Expertise: Extensive knowledge in technical safety practices.
- Operational Support: Experience in an operational support role within the oil and gas sector is desirable.
- Safety Case Management: Familiarity with managing safety cases is a plus.
Education & Experience
- Degree: Relevant Safety Engineering Degree (MSc) or equivalent.
- Certification: Chartered Engineer registration with the Engineering Council (EC) is required.
- Experience: Significant experience in technical safety is essential.
