Senior Scrum Master

Duration: 10 months (renewable) Location: London, UK Work Schedule: Monday - Friday Start date: 23 August 2026 Pay rate: to be discussed

Position Overview

This position offers the opportunity to lead Agile delivery across data platform and migration workstreams within a complex enterprise environment.

The role is focused on enabling high-performing teams to deliver business value through effective Scrum leadership, clear governance, and strong stakeholder engagement.

This opportunity will suit a technically strong delivery professional with experience supporting large-scale data transformation initiatives.

The role also requires close collaboration across product, architecture, engineering, analysis, and business functions to maintain delivery momentum and quality.

This opportunity sits within a major UK energy business operating in the oil and gas sector and supporting the wider energy transition.

The role is aligned to strategic data and trading platform initiatives, with a focus on modernisation, migration, and delivery across critical business workstreams.

Candidates will be working in an environment where effective coordination across multiple teams and disciplined delivery oversight are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Coach delivery teams on Agile principles, continuous improvement, team effectiveness, and delivery excellence.
  • Support planning, estimation, forecasting, release readiness, and cross-team coordination across multiple workstreams.
  • Remove impediments and manage risks, dependencies, and blockers to maintain predictable delivery outcomes.
  • Support delivery of large-scale data platform initiatives including migration, modernisation, ingestion, and data product development.
  • Work closely with Product Owners to maintain a prioritised backlog and support refinement, story decomposition, and roadmap planning.
  • Provide transparent delivery reporting, maintain RAID oversight, and support governance forums with clear status updates and performance metrics.
  • Build strong relationships across business, technology, and delivery stakeholders to support decision-making, prioritisation, and aligned execution.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive experience delivering complex technology programmes using Agile methodologies, including significant experience operating as a Scrum Master across multiple teams or programmes.
  • Proven background delivering within complex enterprise environments with strong facilitation, coaching, servant leadership, and stakeholder management capability.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting Databricks, Azure data platform, data lakehouse, data warehouse, migration, modernisation, or cloud transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering delivery processes, including ETL/ELT pipelines, data governance, and analytics platforms.
  • Experience managing epics, features, user stories, delivery roadmaps, estimation, forecasting, and release planning.
  • Strong programme governance experience, including delivery metrics, dependency management, executive reporting, and work across governance-led environments.
  • Experience within commodity trading, energy trading, or financial trading environments would be highly desirable, including knowledge of ETRM platforms and trading lifecycle processes.
  • Certified Scrum Master, PSM I/II, or equivalent Scrum certification is essential.
  • Additional Agile, SAFe, project, cloud, or Databricks certifications would be advantageous.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship .
