We are partnering with our client, Shell to recruit a skilled Retail Space Planner to join their retail team in London on a full-time contract basis. Ensuring optimal use of micro & macro space and carry out robust assessments of sales per linear meter across network of service stations in UK.
Role Overview:
- Utilise space planning software to deliver the most efficient and effective implementation of the CR UK proposition.
- Ensure optimal use of micro and macro space; undertake robust assessments of sales per linear metre metrics across the Shell network for assigned categories and/or formats.
- Create and maintain micro space planograms in line with the annual range review calendar, working in close collaboration with Category Managers to augment CR revenue in line with stretching T&R Targets.
- Ensure assortment optimisation across the portfolio of categories sold; review data metrics for each product, category and fixture size to maximise sales, margin and profit performance.
- Present recommendations for new space allocations or equipment solutions that will drive incremental sales and margin growth.
- Provide month-to-month planogram support to maximise sales performance from seasonal, NPD and promotional features.
- Act as custodian of category space to protect the License to Operate; ensuring service stations are compliant with licensing or age-related product regulations and/or guidelines.
- Undertake and maintain demographic profiling & clustering solution modules.
- Sustain a proactive awareness of market trends, consumer need states and shopper missions, ensuring a customer centric approach to all space planning activities.
- Maintain a product and image database in support of the software system.
- Establish a cross-functional relationship across Category Management, Supply Chain, Sales and Network.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Solid previous experience in both micro and macro space planning with either a retailer or blue-chip FMCG supplier.
- High technical competence, with expert knowledge of JDA / INTACTIX / Spaceman / Omniscope software including assortment optimisation and floor planning combined with full knowledge of AutoCAD, Macromedia Flash, CKB Planogram Generator and core MI tools (Excel, Business Objects & Power BI).
- Strong analytical skills: robust analytical skills with a rounded understanding of retail alongside the dynamics of the shopper, underpinned by a deep consumer led mindset.
- Strong commercial acumen: demonstrable understanding of the metrics for sales, margin, profitability and performance per linear metre supported with strong understanding of other influencing factors.
- Result focused mindset; able to deliver against or support delivery of stretching business targets.
- Flexibility: able to attend service stations reviews around the UK when required.
