Position Overview
Procurement Engineer opportunity is suited to a technically strong professional with significant experience supporting project procurement strategy across complex energy and infrastructure environments.
The Procurement Engineer will play a key role in creating value for project teams by developing and implementing procurement plans throughout the FEED and EPC phases.
This position offers the chance to work within a major international energy business supporting high‑value procurement and contracting activity.
The Procurement Engineer will be central to delivery planning, vendor engagement, commercial coordination and material availability across critical project milestones.
Role Context
This role sits within the oil, gas, petroleum and infrastructure sectors and supports projects during the FEED and EPC phases.
The working environment involves close liaison with project teams, contractors, infrastructure stakeholders and senior project management functions.
The position focuses on venture procurement and contracting strategy, purchasing coordination and delivery oversight for large-scale project activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project procurement plans and define procurement strategy across FEED and EPC project phases.
- Lead bid slate development, pre-screening activity and preparation of invitation to bid, request for information and request for quotation documentation.
- Liaise with project teams and contractors to determine purchasing strategy, contract compliance, legal requirements and material categorisation.
- Review and approve purchasing procedures and ensure procurement activity is carried out in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Support sourcing activity by ensuring suitable vendors are included in tender and proposal processes.
- Review bid recommendations prior to award and support the progression of approvals.
- Manage procurement for critical and long-lead materials and monitor market conditions, availability and delivery performance.
- Generate and maintain procurement progress reports, expedite reports and detailed status updates for project stakeholders.
- Hold regular procurement meetings with contractors and communicate overdue material status and recovery planning to the wider project team.
- Maintain strong interfaces with engineering, quality and schedule functions while contributing to subcontract planning and procurement strategy.
Qualifications & Experience
- Substantial experience in procurement engineering or project procurement within the oil, gas, petroleum or infrastructure sectors.
- Proven experience developing and delivering procurement strategy during FEED and EPC phases.
- Experience supporting large project order placement, including engineered equipment from major manufacturers.
- Strong understanding of contract compliance, purchasing procedures, material standardisation and procurement reporting.
- Certification in purchasing and supply, such as Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
- Working knowledge of SAP, Primavera, risk assessment tools, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Word and physical progress systems.
- Strong capability in planning and organising, problem analysis, open communication, customer service and intercultural awareness.
