Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Works Supervisor to support the delivery of a major Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) project based in Talacre, North Wales. This role is responsible for supervising mechanical construction activities to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality requirements, schedules, and budgets. Working closely with construction, commissioning, engineering, and contractor teams, you will play a key role in ensuring successful project execution and handover.
Responsibilities
- Supervise mechanical construction activities, including structural erection, equipment installation, piping fabrication, installation, and testing
- Verify all mechanical works are executed in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable international standards
- Ensure materials used on site comply with project requirements and quality standards
- Monitor construction progress against project schedules and identify potential delays and recovery actions
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and practical solutions to site issues
- Validate completed work quantities and construction progress
- Ensure punch list items are identified, tracked, and closed out appropriately
- Witness construction and pre-commissioning tests and endorse quality documentation where required
- Maintain accurate records of manpower, site activities, and construction progress
- Coordinate with commissioning, engineering, quality, and HSE teams to support project delivery
- Ensure contractors maintain a safe working environment and comply with all project HSE requirements
Requirements
- Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 6 years' experience within the Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, or Industrial sectors
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a Mechanical Works Supervisor or Construction Supervision role
- Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment installation, piping systems, static equipment, vessels, and rotating equipment
- Experience supervising construction activities on major industrial or energy projects
- Understanding of mechanical completion, commissioning, and handover processes
- Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, inspection requirements, and construction quality standards
- Knowledge of construction planning, progress measurement, and reporting processes
- Good understanding of HSE requirements within large construction projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with completion management systems is advantageous
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
