Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership
- Lead maintenance, reliability, asset management and operational readiness consultancy activities across energy and industrial sector projects.
- Provide technical assurance and peer review for engineering studies and deliverables.
- Support multidisciplinary teams with subject matter expertise in maintenance, reliability and asset lifecycle performance.
- Develop innovative solutions aligned with good engineering practice, legislation and industry standards.
- Facilitate technical workshops, training sessions and review meetings.
- Reliability and Asset Management Engineering
- Lead and apply RAM, RCM, FMECA/FMEA, RCA, maintenance optimisation and reliability improvement studies.
- Develop risk-based maintenance strategies, maintenance programmes and lifecycle reliability plans for facilities and equipment.
- Assess equipment criticality, analyse failure trends and maintenance history, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Develop condition monitoring programmes and support risk-based decision-making.
- Support complex asset repair and intervention scopes.
- Operational Readiness and Assurance
- Develop and implement operational readiness and assurance programmes for capital projects, brownfield modifications and asset transitions.
- Establish readiness frameworks, milestones, criteria and stage-gate assurance processes.
- Assess readiness across maintenance, operations, inspection, integrity, spares, materials management and support systems.
- Identify readiness gaps and define mitigation and corrective action plans.
- Develop deliverables such as asset registers, equipment criticality assessments, maintenance strategies, spares catalogues, asset care plans and performance monitoring frameworks.
- Commissioning, Start-Up and Handover
- Provide maintenance and reliability engineering support during commissioning, start-up and early-life operations.
- Participate in mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning and readiness reviews.
- Review procedures, records, turnover packs and handover documentation from a maintenance and reliability perspective.
- Define preservation, spares, maintenance and start-up support requirements.
- Support troubleshooting, risk mitigation and operational acceptance activities.
- CMMS, Maintenance Planning and Asset Data
- Support CMMS implementation, optimisation and governance, including asset data, equipment hierarchies, maintenance plans, workflows and reporting structures.
- Monitor maintenance performance, backlog, deferrals, outstanding actions, parts availability and inspection status.
- Prepare maintenance and CMMS reports, dashboards, KPI tracking and improvement plans.
- Support spare parts optimisation, inventory strategy development and spares readiness reviews.
- Help maintain high-quality maintenance and reliability data to support safe and efficient decision-making.
- Late-Life Operations and Decommissioning
- Support decommissioning studies, late-life operations assessments and life extension reviews.
- Undertake equipment condition assessments to inform continued operation, repair, replacement, preservation or decommissioning decisions.
- Rationalise maintenance requirements for ageing, reduced-duty, mothballed or late-life assets while maintaining safe and compliant operation.
- Identify opportunities for Opex reduction through maintenance optimisation, inspection rationalisation, spares strategy review and operational simplification.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Team Support
- Support technical proposals, methodologies, presentations, workshops and client-facing technical briefings.
- Engage with stakeholders to align delivery objectives and technical requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and consultants through coaching, supervision and technical guidance.
- Support team capability development and contribute to agile delivery across multiple concurrent scopes.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification and relevant experience in a core engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Rotating Equipment, Instruments and Controls, Electrical, Reliability and Maintenance, or Piping/Piping Stress.
Essential Experience
- Strong understanding of equipment reliability, maintenance management, asset integrity, HSE requirements, safe systems of work and asset lifecycle principles.
- Proven capability in reliability and maintenance methodologies including RAM, RCM, FMECA/FMEA, RCA, criticality assessment and maintenance optimisation.
- Experience developing maintenance strategies, risk-based maintenance programmes and reliability improvement plans for new or existing facilities.
- Experience supporting operational readiness, assurance, commissioning, start-up and handover activities.
- Knowledge of CMMS implementation, optimisation, governance, work order management, maintenance workflows and reporting.
- Ability to analyse equipment performance data, maintenance history and failure trends to identify improvement opportunities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, reporting and coordination skills in client-facing and multidisciplinary environments.
- Experience leading within discipline teams and supporting delivery across multiple concurrent scopes.
- Familiarity with ISO 55000 principles.
Desired Skills
- Experience in oil and gas, chemicals, power generation, hydrogen, CCUS, offshore wind, solar, decommissioning or other industrial sectors.
- Experience supporting EPC, EPCM or owner-operator project delivery models.
- Experience in decommissioning, late-life asset management, digital asset management, predictive maintenance or performance monitoring systems.
- Experience working within consultancy environments and leading small or medium-sized teams.
- Good presentation and training skills.
- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards professional registration (Preferred).
- Familiarity with Agile working techniques such as Scrum or Kanban.
