The Infrastructure Team builds and maintains the foundation for these systems—providing tooling, automation, expertise, and implementation for core cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability.
We’re looking for an Infrastructure Engineering Team Lead to guide a team supporting Airship's cloud infrastructure, build processes, and monitoring systems. You’ll provide technical leadership for two engineers based in France, with potential for the team to grow over time. This role reports to the Director of Infrastructure, who is based in the United States. This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You’ll drive project execution, provide technical guidance to teammates, and ensure our cloud environment scales with Airship and our customers.
What You’ll Do- Provide technical leadership and guidance to infrastructure engineers
- Anticipate, plan, and execute infrastructure projects aligned with company and customer needs
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and security teams
- Support broader company initiatives as needed beyond the immediate team scope
- Maintain and improve cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform
- Drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines, observability, and automation
- Evaluate and implement emerging infrastructure tools and practices
- Support company initiatives around cost optimization, security, disaster recovery, and compliance
- Respond to and manage critical incidents effectively
- 5+ years in backend or infrastructure engineering roles
- Experience providing technical leadership or mentorship
- Strong project management skills—able to drive initiatives from planning to delivery
- Excellent communication skills in English (required for collaboration with U.S.-based leadership)
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS acceptable)
- Experience experimenting with AI tools in your personal or professional life – or an eagerness to learn!
- Hands-on experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
- Familiarity with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Spinnaker)
- Background in Python, Go, Java, or equivalent for automation and tooling
- Knowledge of security best practices, networking fundamentals, and incident management
Airship’s ‘Digital First’ approach to work means that for the majority of our roles, work can be performed remotely, either some or most of the time. CompensationThe starting base pay range for this position is: €85,000 - €105,000 EUR per year. Base pay is part of the total compensation package and is determined by a variety of factors such as relevant skills, work experience, business priorities, market demands, and location.
