- Translate needs into high-quality designs, including capacity modelling, power architecture, cooling strategy, and connectivity options.
- Present solutions to technical and commercial stakeholders with clarity, confidence, and storytelling impact.
- Solution Design & Technical Validation
- Develop and validate proposals, including rack layouts, power distribution, cooling configurations, cross-connect architectures, and resilience models (Tier II–IV).
- Ensure solutions align with internal engineering standards, operational capabilities, and commercial constraints.
- Support the creation of Statements of Work (SOWs), technical schedules, and customer design documentation.
- Commercial & Bid Support
- Partner with sales teams to shape competitive, technically sound proposals, providing input/costs into pricing models and capacity planning.
- Support RFP/RFI responses with detailed technical content, diagrams, and solution narratives.
- Complete complex Hyperscale technical documents such as SAQs and CDEs.
- Identify value-engineering opportunities that balance customer needs with cost efficiency.
- Internal Collaboration & Market Expertise

- Design, Construction & Ops: Influence future DC design requirements based on customer demand, support white space management, and develop site upgrade plans.
- Industry Insights: Maintain deep knowledge of hyperscaler design standards, sustainability frameworks, and energy optimisation.
- Compliance: Understand regulatory requirements across European markets (e.g., EN50600, ISO27001, sustainability reporting).
- AI & Trends: Track the evolving impact of AI, CDNs, Compute, and Storage on data centre design and demand.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

- Engineering Degree (or equivalent technical background).
- Cooling Technologies: DX, chilled water, free cooling, liquid cooling.
- Connectivity: Fibre architectures, cross connects, IXPs, cloud on-ramps.
- Software Skills: Intermediate Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, and AutoCAD.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional board-level communication, structured problem-solving, resilience under pressure, and the tenacity to view setbacks as opportunities to re-engage. (Previous people management experience is preferred).
