Reimagine What's Possible

An opportunity exists within the UK Industrial Gases Commercial Team for a Business Development Manager (Industrial Gases) who will be responsible for the proactive and profitable sales of our Packaged Gases, Cryo Ease and Differentiated Equipment/Engineering solutions within their Merchant Sales Unit (MSU).

The Business Development Manager role requires a good general knowledge of the end user markets in particular metal fabrication, food and leisure.

They will be supporting a region that is spread across the North West of England and North Wales.

Business growth is expected to come from new customer acquisition via self-generated prospecting, existing customer referrals and marketing campaigns.

In addition, new business will be achieved through the development, support and coaching of the regional retail network (Sales Centres and Agents) working in conjunction with the Retail Relationship Manager.

Duties include

  • Proactive sales of packaged gases and Cryo Ease installations to new customers, by building product and market knowledge in the Industrial Gases market sectors we serve.
  • Accurately completing and archiving of supply agreements, technical specifications and associated contracts within the CRM system.

Timely submission of all financially related documentation e. g.

DDM.

All of which support the onboarding of new customers for which you are responsible for within the first 3 months of trading including formal handover to the relevant account management team.

  • Achievement of personal targets for Packaged Gases revenue and Cryo Ease tanks installed and onstream.
  • Demonstrating Air Products differentiated offerings and engineered solutions to gain added value from our prospect base, engaging the Applications specialists and Commercial Technology teams as the need arises.
  • Participation in sales and retention campaigns, exhibitions and any new product launches.
  • Working with the Retail Relationship Managers to achieve annual retail growth targets and development of new retail openings.
  • Support Major Account teams with the development of opportunities within the existing portfolio.
  • Use of CRM tool to maintain a healthy, current and valid prospect pipeline, record call activities and process new business acquisition in line with required targets.
  • Field based activities are expected to equate to approximately 75% of the BDM's time.
  • As the Business Development Manager, you already are or have;
  • Strong commercial focus and good negotiations skills.
  • Demonstrable track record & prior experience of field based selling into business-to-business markets, using consultative and added value techniques.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with a desire and proven track record of achievement within a target driven environment.
  • The ability to communicate, interact and influence at all levels of customer organization
  • Excellent team skills and capability of successfully developing win/win situations with peers.
  • High energy individual, willing to travel extensively within allocated area to enhance effective use of time.
  • Use of IT to enhance communication, business analysis and growth opportunities, which include but not limited to: Microsoft Office, CRM tool, SAP and Pricing tools.
