Air Personnel are delighted to support their aviation client with the role of Project Accountant based in Shawbury.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the coordination and reporting of Defence Department related financial activities.
- Liaise with the Defence Senior Management Team to validate the financial integrity of Defence offers.
- Develop work breakdown structures to generate project plans, work packages and schedules for future contract proposals.
- Assist in the creation of budget reports.
- Preparation of Defence EAC forecasts incorporating reviews of the P&L, balance sheet and cash.
- Monitor and maintain billing milestones in line with flying hours.
- Report deviations to plan regarding programme, finance and resource status, enabling forecasting of costs to complete using and updating the forecasting model.
- Risk management.
- Monitor value for money on project basis and report any fluctuations.
- Prepare Group contract reviews and monthly “Estimate at Completion” (EACs) updates.
- Support month end closing for financial reporting.
- Monitor adherence to company policies and procedures (such as risk management) and the relevant accounting standards.
- Maintain the defence related financial data in SAP, amend the reports, and address change requests to the IT department if required.
Qualifications
- Good working knowledge of accountancy principles.
- CIMA or ACCA Qualified.
- Use of MS office and Excel in particular, plus Google suite.
- Ability to coordinate a number of tasks simultaneously, and to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
- Solid understanding of work package management and work package control.
- Knowledge of risk management principles.
- A structured / methodical approach to all planning/tracking tasks.
- Analytical, problem solving, presentation and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written.
- Self starter is important along with flexibility due to business needs but also works both ways.
- Security clearance required.
- Driving licence for occasional visits to the head office in Oxford.
