The Welding Sales Specialist is a technical sales position responsible for developing Airgas-specific expertise in Welding processes and applications. This role collaborates closely with an Advanced Fabrication Welding Sales Specialist, utilizing the Airgas Advanced Fabrication Sales Methodology, including the Airgas Efficiency Analysis & Engineered Cost Reductions. The specialist interacts with Airgas associates, external vendors, suppliers, and both existing and prospective customers.
Responsibilities include:
- Growing profitable sales of Welding Processes and Applications to small to midsize Airgas customers.
- Developing technical knowledge to match customer needs with Airgas products and services, addressing inquiries and providing excellent customer service.
- Utilizing sales tools like Efficiency Analysis, Welding surveys, and Welding 201 to promote sales and margins.
- Travelling with the Advanced Fabrication Welding Process Specialist to understand customer welding processes and recommend Airgas solutions.
- Providing sales knowledge and marketing literature to promote Airgas Shielding Gases, welding products, and services.
- Enhancing selling skills and technical knowledge, particularly in automation and CNC cutting systems.
- Operating safely and promoting safety culture among colleagues and customers.
- Performing special projects and other duties as required.
Are you a MATCH?
Associate's Degree in Welding (AAS) preferred; Military Welding training, Bachelor’s in Engineering, or additional welding experience may substitute. Must pass the AWS Certified Welding Sales Representative (CWSR) exam after hire to enter the training program. Membership in AWS, ASM, ASNT, ASQ, ASME, or SME is highly desirable. Prior sales experience required; technical sales experience preferred. At least 4 years of welding industry experience. Strong interest and basic knowledge of welding processes. Relationship management and problem-solving skills. Ability to build effective relationships internally and externally. Knowledge of TQM, Lean, and Six Sigma principles.
