We’re seeking an experienced Business Development Manager with a strong track record of working with housebuilders and residential developers across the UK. This role is ideal for someone who understands the specification sales process and can confidently develop relationships with major and regional housebuilding firms to promote ventilation and MVHR solutions. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities within new build housing developments, winning specifications, and driving sales growth within the residential construction sector.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Establish and maintain relationships with senior commercial, technical, and procurement teams within housebuilding companies.
- Proactively identify new build residential developments for potential specification.
- Gain new business contracts with Housebuilders & Developers for Airflow products.
- Manage project tenders from early prospects to order stage.
- Maintain and increase sales income forecast by gaining new project leads.
- Successfully achieve sales targets, utilising all available tools.
- Ensure ROI on proposals meets company objectives and margins are maintained.
- Stay informed about industry trends and market changes to identify new opportunities and potential challenges and educate and advise customers of the same.
- Confidently present on the company, the product portfolio and CPD seminars.
- Learn and use the MVHR selection software tools to carry out product selections.
- Log all customer activity on the CRM.
- Gather and analyse competitor activity including promotions and pricing.
- Provide data and reports on customers to management.
- Work with cross functional sales teams within the business.
- Represent the company at industry events and conferences to enhance brand visibility.
Key Competencies & Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with or selling to UK housebuilders, residential developers, or main contractors.
- Proven network within the UK new build housing sector.
- Background in selling technical or electrical products into the construction sector – ideally via specification.
- Excellent verbal and written communicator – confident presenting to decision-makers and delivering CPD.
- Highly self-motivated, organised, and commercially driven.
- Comfortable with nationwide travel and occasional overnight stays.
- Proficient with Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive).
- Experience using a CRM system to track and manage sales activity.
