We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Service Engineer to join our team, taking responsibility for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of air conditioning and refrigeration systems. This is a senior hands-on role requiring strong HVACR expertise, a proactive approach to problem solving, and the ability to deliver exceptional service to a wide range of clients. As part of Airco’s team of skilled Engineers, you will support our expanding and prestigious client base across the Leeds and York area. The role offers plenty of variety, from planned preventative maintenance through to reactive emergency breakdown response, working across both domestic and commercial environments.
Location: Leeds/York Area
Salary: Up to £23 per hour, depending on experience

What you will do:
- Diagnose faults and failures across a range of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, identifying effective and practical solutions
- Deliver a strong first-time fix service wherever possible
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance to a high standard
- Manage and maintain accurate documentation relating to reactive and planned maintenance works
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships with both domestic and commercial clients
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with internal health and safety procedures, as well as client-specific site requirements
- Participate in the on-call rota to help deliver Airco’s 24/7/365 service response
- Provide senior-level technical support and demonstrate leadership in the field through your experience and knowledge
Who we are looking for:
- A highly experienced Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineer with a minimum NVQ Level 2 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
- F-Gas qualified and EN 378 compliant
- Proven hands-on experience with VRV systems, cold rooms, close control units, chilled water systems, and heat pumps
- Comfortable working independently and managing workloads effectively without supervision
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels
- Confident in your technical ability and decision-making
- A strong problem solver with a positive, can-do attitude
- Ideally, good electrical competence, including the ability to read wiring schematics and test control circuits
- Full UK driving licence
- Must be able to obtain a DBS certificate

Airco are looking to recruit an experienced Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Service Engineer, with a positive and pro-active approach to ensure effective service delivery to our clients. We work for a prestigious customer base in a wide range of sectors including; pharmaceuticals, petrochemical, telecoms, education, IT, retail, healthcare & local authorities. Duties:
- Mobile engineer working on both refrigeration & AC equipment.
- Complete work to high standard and industry recognised best practices

- Produce detailed job reports
- Daily paperwork completion (electronic system)
- Take part in 24hr call out rota
- Be well organised and good communication with back-office
- Be flexible to the demands of the business
- Assist in site surveys, quotes, and RAMS for customers
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
- 10 years site experience
- Fault finding on range of A/C and Ref systems including; VRV, close control, coldrooms, chillers
- Good electrical knowledge – control circuits, PLC’s, BMS
- Good understanding of industry standards, legislation and compliance requirements
