In space, we design and manufacture advanced satellites and systems for telecommunications, Earth observation, navigation, and science programmes. Our key work includes leading the European Space Agency's (ESA) Solar Orbiter mission to study the Sun, the ExoMars rover mission, and the Sentinel 5P, Aeolus, and Biomass Earth observation satellites, which are helping to fight climate change.
This role is within the UK Communications team for Airbus Defence and Space. Based in our Stevenage offices with the flexibility for remote work, the team has a wide remit and works across our main UK sites in Stevenage, Portsmouth, and Newport. This is a great opportunity to learn about communicating to a wide-ranging external audience and working with an international team.
What you will be doing:
- Developing content for external communications including sourcing content for articles, writing engaging stories for the web and drafting press releases;
- Developing content and ideas for social media;
- Creating presentations and audiovisual material;
- Organising events – for media and customer visits including attending industry exhibitions;
- Contributing ideas for overall UK communications campaigns and monitoring KPIs.
Requirements:
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Studying towards a degree related to Communications, Media, International Politics and Content Marketing;
- Ability to use G Suite;
- Ability to write content in different formats - suitable for the web, social media and media releases.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
