As the A220 Production Digital Technology & Connectivity Specialist you are the critical technical bridge between the Belfast shop floor and the global Airbus digital organization. Your mission is to translate complex manufacturing ambitions into clear, executable digital requirements. You focus on architectural understanding and mapping, ensuring that every new industrial project is accurately positioned within the existing site landscape and aligned with the broader Airbus digital strategy. You act as the local expert who ensures our "Factory of the Future" is secure, integrated, and supported.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM:
- Site Architectural Landscape & Consultation: Maintain an expert-level understanding of the Belfast site's unique architectural landscape. This includes local OT network topology, site-specific hardware constraints, and legacy-to-modern system integrations. You will act as the resident consultant for industrial teams, advising them on how new projects "fit" into the local technical environment without disrupting operational continuity.
- Strategic Mapping & Alignment: Evaluate local manufacturing "wants" and map them against the Airbus Company-Wide Digital Strategy. You ensure that Belfast-specific initiatives leverage global platforms and authorized architectural patterns, preventing the development of isolated "Shadow IT" systems.
- Digital Orchestration (The "Who & How"): Based on the centrally defined architectural mapping, you will coordinate the deployment. You identify exactly which central teams - including Infrastructure, Cyber Security, and Digital for Operations - must be engaged and specify the tasks required from each to enable a successful project launch.
- Technical Discovery & Scoping: Lead hands-on, on-site assessments of new production projects. You will define the required digital "package," mapping out necessary hardware (IIoT, edge devices, ruggedized kiosks), software applications, and connectivity requirements.
- IT/OT Integration & Data Mapping: Map the pathways between physical industrial assets (automated tooling, sensors, wing-jigs) and corporate systems. You ensure that these data flows follow global protocols and meet stringent Cyber Security and data governance standards.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the technical "translator" between the Belfast production teams and central digital architects. You ensure that local site realities are clearly communicated to central functions so that global solutions are implemented effectively on the Belfast floor.
The Profile We Are Looking For:
- The Systems Navigator: You have a "map-first" mindset, capable of looking at a complex enterprise environment and pinpointing exactly where a local tool should plug in.
- The On-Site Expert: You thrive in a high-intensity manufacturing environment and understand that being physically present on the shop floor is essential for accurate mapping and project success.
- The Strategic Liaison: You are a skilled communicator who can navigate a matrixed international organization, balancing local production urgency with global digital governance.
ABOUT YOU: It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that sufficient detail is provided on application to demonstrate how the applicant meets essential job criteria, as this alone will be used for vetting purposes.
Experience: 5+ years in an IT/OT role within a complex manufacturing or industrial setting (Aerospace, Automotive, or similar).
Architectural Proficiency: Proven ability to interpret complex enterprise architectures and map local project requirements to them.
IT/OT Convergence: Solid knowledge of how shop-floor technologies (PLCs, SCADA, MES) interface with corporate IT infrastructure (Networks, Cloud, ERP/SAP).
Desirable: Project Leadership: Experience coordinating across multiple central departments (Cyber, Infrastructure, Ops) to drive end-to-end project delivery.
Education: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Applications must be completed and submitted by Monday 13th of July, 2026.
Please Note: Meeting the mandatory criteria listed above guarantees consideration for the role, but does not ensure progression to the interview stage. In the event of a high volume of qualified applications, the selection panel reserves the right to shortlist and progress candidates who additionally meet one or more of the preferential (desirable) criteria.
We employ people from all sections of the community and are committed to the appointment of the best candidate based upon the merit principle alone.
