About us
We have some exciting internship opportunities within the Airbus Wing Structural Design team in Broughton. You will work on Static Stress, Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT), and Finite Elements Method (FEM) analysis with the Plant Engineering Team (PET) and also support the A400M team. We are located right alongside the wing assembly lines for the Single Aisle, Long Range, and A350 wings, giving you the fantastic opportunity to see the physical product every day.
Are you proactive, eager to learn from top-class aerospace engineers, and excited to work on best-selling and future aircraft wing developments? Are you passionate about structural analysis and wing design? Do you like connecting with people from different backgrounds and nationalities?
We are a team of Structural Engineers who are all passionate about finding technical solutions to support the wings on Airbus products. Our engineers have a vast wealth of knowledge and experience to help you grow technically and personally during your year-long internship.
This internship gives you the opportunity to work on most of the Airbus wings, from major developments on well-established aircraft such as the A320, A330 and A350, to new product developments for the wing of the future. In addition to structural engineering activities, a wide range of other projects and opportunities are available to help you grow your technical and professional skills. ‘Gen-A’ (Generation Airbus) also provides the opportunity to grow your network with other Early Careers members and find additional opportunities during your internship.
What you will be doing
- Solving structural analysis problems within Static Stress, F&DT and FEM, through the use of appropriate AIRBUS methods, processes and tools - this will include extracting information from previous analysis and/or carrying out FEM analysis and performing calculations to justify structural performance;
- Creating appropriate documentation;
- Communicating your analysis to mentors and senior engineers;
- You will be involved in the dynamic process of aircraft wing modifications, which will require alignment and integration between different teams;
- You will participate in investigations into manufacturing optimisation challenges, proposing and implementing enhancements to meet future build rates;
- Next to your everyday work, you will also be asked to outline a set of personal development goals, which can include anything from learning Java or Python to networking and discovering how the business works.
This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as this is the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
