Job Overview
Airbus is seeking a Head of Environment, Safety & Health (EHS) to lead EHS strategy for the Belfast site. The role defines the strategic EHS direction, promotes a safe, compliant, and sustainable workplace and shapes the future of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the EHS direction for Airbus Belfast, leading, motivating and developing a professional, multi-disciplinary team.
- Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive EHS improvement plans and management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Oversee robust risk management and accident investigations using leading and lagging indicators, audits and inspections.
- Act as the primary Airbus representative with external regulatory bodies (HSE NI, NI Environment Agency) and maintain effective consultation with internal stakeholders.
- Ensure emergency response arrangements are strictly maintained, oversee Occupational Health and Safety services and manage the regional EHS budget.
Desired Profile
- Strategic and proactive professional with extensive experience leading EHS teams.
- Authoritative advisor capable of influencing at all levels and escalating significant risks.
- Data‑driven decision maker, translating complex EHS performance data into actionable insights.
Requirements
- NEBOSH Diploma (Degree level) and comprehensive, up‑to‑date understanding of EHS legislation and compliance.
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in Health & Safety and a proven track record of maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems.
- Direct, hands‑on experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment (preferably Aerospace).
- Proficiency in EHS management software and reporting tools; excellent communication and presentation skills.
Desirable
- Experience working with Occupational Health as a 3rd party or outsourced provider.
- Knowledge of insurance claims and enterprise risk management.
- Strong project management skills, including EHS training development and delivery.
