Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Landing Gear Structural Analysis Engineer, at Airbus in Filton. This position is in the Landing Gear Structures, offering unparalleled product knowledge and exposure across all Airbus commercial programmes. You will work in a collaborative team providing immediate, robust structural analysis and engineering solutions for critical issues found anywhere from manufacturing (FAL) to the global in-service fleet.
How You Will Contribute To The Team
- In-Service, AOG, and Airworthiness Leadership: Provide rapid In-Service responses and structural analysis for high-priority events, including Aircraft On Ground (AOG) queries and issues arising from non-routine events like hard landings or severe turbulence.
- Supplier Report Review: Review and technically accept supplier's structural analysis reports, providing critical feedback and drawing appropriate engineering conclusions to ensure full compliance with Airbus methodology and standards.
- Problem Resolution: Lead the management of high-priority tasks (e.g., MISP/SISP/FISP) by ensuring robust engineering planning and structural analysis is performed to resolve issues found during Testing, FAL, and In-Service operations.
- Technical Compliance: Interface with Specialists and Technical Signatories to ensure all analysis activities meet safety and technical needs with robust adherence to system processes and certification requirements.
Structural Analysis & Engineering Development:
- Detailed Analysis: Perform comprehensive classical (hand calculation) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for static strength, fatigue, and Durability & Damage Tolerance (DDT) across primary and secondary metallic and composite structures.
- Coordination & Management: Manage and coordinate the Structural Analysis inputs to In-Service, FAL, and Flight Test tasks, ensuring alignment with program needs.
- Policy Compliance: Ensure all analysis activities are carried out in strict compliance with all relevant internal and external policies for static and fatigue analysis methodology.
Strategic Engagement & Growth:
- Vendor Engagement: Engage with vendors and subcontractors to resolve issues, considering the structural, system performance, safety, cost, and operational requirements.
- Development: Actively develop towards achieving Technical Signatory status with support from Experts and Principal Engineers to drive technical maturity and accelerate delivery of structural activities.
About You
- Educated to a degree level in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A strong background in structural analysis, stress substantiation, or structural integrity within the aerospace industry.
- Demonstrable experience in supporting large transport aircraft programs.
- Expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for static strength, fatigue, and Durability & Damage Tolerance (DDT).
