Job DescriptionAn exciting opportunity for a Landing Gear ATA32 Engineer has arisen in Airbus Filton focusing on DMU & Installation for Landing Gears across all programmes. The position is within the Installation Team (1YLXI), responsible for the supporting installation of Landing Gear Structure, Hydro‐mechanical and Systems equipment for all programmes from delivery and throughout the life of the product In‐Service. This role will provide a varied learning environment specifically focusing on the DMU & Installation of the variety of Landing Gears. You will report to the Head of Installation and be part of the Landing Gear Transverse Team (1YLX). You will be working with other ATA32 Engineers, signatories and Landing Gear vendors to ensure the development of technical solutions integrated with LG CoC and other Aircraft ATA chapters. A large part of the role is also involved in supporting the Final Assembly Lines and MAP teams for all programmes, with potential for travel.

Key Activities

Ensuring all activities are carried out in compliance with relevant policies for design and installation, meeting safety, technical needs, and robust adherence to system processes.

Creating and updating the interface and installation definition between the landing gears and airframe, and between the landing gears and equipment.

Interfacing with Specialists and technical signatories to ensure compliance to certification requirements and methodology, e.g., quality checks and clearance studies using Catia kinematic models to demonstrate clearance between landing gears, dressings, and equipment; authoring results and obtaining approval.

Ensuring adherence to budget and schedule for each activity; managing and mitigating risks/opportunities and communicating in a timely manner to stakeholders and customers.

Working with sub‐contracting firms providing support to internal resources within IYL.

Responsibilities

Ensure all engineering activities under your leadership meet the necessary safety, time/cost/quality standards and are delivered in line with commitments.

Manage a variety of tasks against a priority order, as agreed with the Senior Engineers.

Coordinate the installation inputs to In‐Service, FAL and Flight Test tasks.

Develop towards technical signatory.

Support offload of activities to offload suppliers.

Skills & Experience

Successful leadership of engineering tasks.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively within local and transnational teams, customers and suppliers.

Enthusiastic, energetic and pro‐active approach to team working and a willingness to exercise technical leadership as required.

Strong background in Engineering.

Background in DMU and/or Installation; Catia V5 experience and toolset access (PASS, VPM) beneficial but not essential.

Additional InformationThis role has been graded AP, but could also be a development opportunity for those currently in a lower graded role.
