About us: The Airworthiness and Certification domain is the bedrock of Airbus, ensuring the certification of Airbus products. Representing Airbus in airworthiness authority rulemaking initiatives led by the Authorities, we use our expertise to help shape the regulatory landscape for future aircraft. We work across Airbus domains and interface with external parties such as suppliers, airlines and airworthiness authorities throughout the complete life cycle of each aircraft program.

An opportunity has arisen to join the Airworthiness and Certification team for a 12.5-month work placement. This role is aimed at an engineering undergraduate looking for an interesting and challenging placement, wishing to gain unique experience of the airworthiness and certification processes for Airbus aircraft. In the Airworthiness and Certification domain, we are responsible for exercising the privileges granted to Airbus by the International Airworthiness Authorities, which allow Airbus to design, build and fly our aircraft. We have a key role in ensuring the future of the company.

What you will be doing: During this placement you will be working within both the Continued Airworthiness team and the Certification Technical Directorate focusing mainly on the Airbus in the UK activities related to Wing Structure, Landing Gear and Fuel System. The activities you may undertake will include:

  • Review and amendment of documentation covering modifications to our aircraft, including assessing regulations affected and the Airworthiness impact;
  • Analysis of in-service occurrence data and compilation of safety impacts and proposed solutions;
  • Leading discussions with Technical Experts within the company to gather information, assess Airworthiness impacts and agree the appropriate action;
  • Reporting the status of projects to the Airworthiness Authorities and other stakeholders;
  • Taking part in improvement projects within the teams and the wider Airworthiness network in Airbus.

You will also have the chance to take part in initiatives outside your day-to-day tasks that will provide opportunities for personal development.

Requirements: Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application. Your application should include a CV along with a Cover Letter outlining your motivation and suitability for the role.

Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Studying towards an Engineering degree;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English, coupled with good IT skills;
  • Creative and open mind-set with a desire to explore and learn;
  • A keen interest in the aviation industry;
  • Motivated with the ability to manage own activities and work with a multi-skilled, transnational team.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
