As a Senior Design Engineer joining our Belfast engineering team on our dedicated night shift, you will provide technical guidance across a broad range of structures and systems installation activities, maintaining strict compliance with applicable design and airworthiness requirements laid down by the Design Authority while delivering dedicated night shift coverage across all Material Review Board (MRB) design activities to keep our 24/7 manufacturing operations running safely and efficiently.
HOW YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM:
- Provide clear technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to an engineering team, developing innovative approaches to complex design problems and driving continuous technical development.
- Take full ownership of assigned projects or work packages, ensuring all commitments, technical milestones, and deliverables are met within agreed schedules and budgets.
- Maintain deep design engineering expertise to advise user departments across the design-to-manufacturing lifecycle, ensuring components fully satisfy customer specifications and airworthiness regulatory requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive project feasibility studies, explore project extensions or new work packages, and liaise effectively with cross-functional specialists, customers, and key suppliers.
ABOUT YOU:
Essential Criteria:
- Possess a BSc/BEng degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering, alongside a minimum of 3 years' relevant Design Engineering experience.
- Comprehensive theoretical and applied knowledge of aircraft structures and/or systems installation (or a relevant specialist area within aerospace design engineering).
- Thorough working knowledge of applicable aerospace regulatory requirements (e.g., CAA, EASA, FAA airworthiness standards), analysis methods, testing procedures, and standard engineering processes.
- Demonstrated capability to apply advanced engineering analysis and testing methodologies to complex aerostructures and systems design projects.
OR
- Have a HNC/HND in a relevant discipline and have at least 5 years' relevant Design Engineering experience.
- Be able to demonstrate experience in dealing with more senior management within the Company, customers, suppliers and Certification Authorities.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to manage, motivate and advise a team working on specialist engineering issues, and the ability to motivate staff in an environment of change.
- Be able to demonstrate good presentation and organisational skills and be highly motivated.
