The Automation Technician will support Prestwick Operations by providing planned automated equipment maintenance, rapid response for technical issues, and management of critical spares.

How you will contribute to the team

  • Perform maintenance on all types of electrical, electronic and/or mechanical equipment, machine circuits, Automated/Robotic systems, including but not limited to:
  • Voltage distribution systems
  • Motor control centres
  • Various machine tools
  • Various Robotic Solutions
  • Data communications
  • Fibre optic/copper cabling
  • Programmable logic controllers (PLC)
  • Use and update schematics, software, hardware, and wiring diagrams to determine compliance with specifications for electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Work with and assist other employees engaged in the maintenance installation, repair, retrofit, modification, calibration, adjustment and test of electrical/electronic plant facilities.
  • Coordinate and work with management, engineering, contractors, and equipment manufacturers for installation, modification, failure analysis and problem resolution on all automated systems. Work with power distribution control systems with incoming voltages in excess of 600VDC.
  • Compile new hardware/software justifications/commissions.
  • Act as a focal point and support Customers.
  • Act as a focal point and support Suppliers.
  • Requirements for the role

    • Essential experience includes automated electronic and mechanical systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), electrical and motor control, instrumentation systems, and use of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) systems.
    • Advantageous experience includes robotics and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) systems.
    • A technical craft apprenticeship within a relevant engineering discipline, as well as industrial experience.
