As an Apprentice Engineer, the type of placements you will undertake may include:
- Architecture and Integration
- Design (for Wing structures and/or systems installation)
- Simulation
- Analysis (Static Stress and Fatigue & Damage Tolerance)
- Systems Installation Safety Analysis
- Research and Technology
- Certification
- Ground and Flight Test
- In Service Support
- Digital (e.g. coding, AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Optimization, Methods and tools)
- Materials, Processes and Test
- Wing Structures Repairs
- Project Management through placements in Chief Engineers or other departments
- Business and Financial knowledge
- Leadership Skills through working on projects with a broad range of people
In order to be eligible to this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:
- 112 UCAS points or above: 3 A Levels BBC or above which must include Maths at B or above AND Physics or Chemistry at C or above, with a further A-level/AS-Level/BTEC Diploma
- BTEC Extended Diploma: Aeronautical Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing in Engineering, Construction and the Built Environment, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Land-based Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations and Maintenance Engineering β minimum grade DMM or D (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering)
- T Levels β Minimum of Merit overall in Engineering and Manufacturing, additional qualification in Maths at Level 3 preferable but not essential
- GCSE Maths and English (Language and Literature) β Minimum of Grade 5/B
- Natural curiosity and excitement to explore and to work in a dynamic and changing environment
- Ability to manage problems and communicate effectively to resolve them in a fast-paced environment
- Passion about Aerospace and shaping the sustainable future of the civil aircraft market
Your journey begins with a nine-month vocational foundation diploma. Afterward, you\βll join our experts at Filton, diving into real engineering work on our Commercial Aircraft Programmes. You\βll be assigned to a department with incredible career potential, including:
- Wing Structures
- Landing Gear
- Fuel & Inerting Systems
- Flight Physics
- Fuel & Landing Gear Testing
We empower our apprentices with significant placement flexibility. You\βll not only gain deep technical expertise within your core area but also develop a diverse skill set through rotations in various engineering departments.
What you will be doing: Our Engineering Degree Apprenticeship offers a full degree with no fees, plus vocational training with a regular salary. Airbus is leading the way with this unique 4-year programme through which you will achieve a BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering, Level 2 Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering & Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, and work towards a professional IEng level award.
