Job Description: Start date: September 2026. Location: Filton, Bristol. Duration: 4 years and 3 months. University: Weston College and the University of the West of England. Degree: BEng (Hons) Electromechanical Engineering. Standard: Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering with Electromechanical Engineering Degree Apprenticeship – ST0025 Manufacturing Engineer Level 6.

We’re looking for Apprentices interested in studying a degree in Electromechanical Engineering to specialise in the integration of mechanical, electronic and electrical engineering systems, to pioneer the future of aircraft systems.

Your journey begins with a nine-month vocational foundation diploma. Afterward, you\\u2019ll join our experts at Filton, diving into real engineering work on our Commercial Aircraft Programmes. You will be assigned to a department with career potential, including:

  • Windtunnel
  • Landing Gear Systems
  • Fuel & Inerting Systems
  • Electromagnetic Hazards and Lightning Direct Effects
  • Landing Gear and Fuel Systems Testing including SAF & Hydrogen

We empower apprentices with placement flexibility, gaining deep technical expertise and rotating across engineering departments to build a broad skill set for a successful and impactful career.

What you will be doing

Our Engineering Degree Apprenticeship offers a full degree with no fees, plus vocational training with a regular salary. You will achieve a BEng (Hons) in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, EAL Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence), EAL Level 4 Diploma in Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing (Development Competence), and work towards a professional IEng level award.

As an Apprentice Engineer, placements may include:

  • Aircraft Architecture and Integration
  • Design
  • Simulation
  • Stress and Fatigue
  • Systems Installation Safety Analysis
  • Research and Technology
  • Certification
  • Ground and Flight Test
  • In Service Support
  • Digital (e.g. coding, AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics)

You will also develop the following:

  • Project Management through placements in Chief Engineers or other departments
  • Business and Financial knowledge
  • Leadership Skills through working on projects with a broad range of people

Requirements

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:

  • 112 UCAS points or above: 3 A Levels BBB or above which must include Maths at B and Physics or Chemistry at C or above, with a further A-level/AS-Level/BTEC Diploma
  • BTEC Extended Diploma: Aeronautical Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing in Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields – minimum grade DMM or D (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering)
  • T Levels – Minimum of Merit overall in Engineering and Manufacturing, Maths Level 3 preferable but not essential
  • GCSE Maths and English (Language and Literature) – Minimum Grade 5/B
