About Our Team Airbus Helicopters UK Ltd operates as the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer. The Oxford Airport site serves as Britain’s civil helicopter hub, offering sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support. The site is the Ministry of Defence’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for Defence Helicopter Flying School (MFTS) operating from RAF Shawbury and RAF Valley.

Job Description UK Military Flying Training System (Rotary Wing) B1.3 Licensed Engineer – Shawbury Reports to UK MFTS (RW) Maintenance Operations Manager, Shawbury. The post holder provides engineering operational support to flight operations, performs maintenance inspections and repairs, and supervises fitters. The role includes aircraft hangar operations and general housekeeping.

Responsibilities

  • Certification of line, non-routine maintenance and repairs on Airbus H135 rotorcraft.
  • Engineering operational support to flight operations.
  • Completion of maintenance inspections and repairs directed by the nominated LAE Supervisor.
  • Work as a team leader with high standards to ensure safe operation of the aircraft.
  • Completion of maintenance of airframe structure, power plant, mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Replacement of avionic line replaceable units with simple tests to prove serviceability.
  • Supervision of mechanical fitters and certification of their work.
  • Conduct off-aircraft mechanical, power plant, component and composite technical work in workshops.
  • Assist in day-to-day running of the aircraft hangar, including aircraft movement and general housekeeping.

Qualifications / Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of engine and airframe systems.
  • Knowledge of specialised test equipment related to engine and airframe systems.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of CAA Part 145, Part M, UK ANOs, CAM, flight/airport operations, aircraft line maintenance.
  • CAA Part 66 B1.3 Licence (Turbine Rotorcraft).
  • Experience of flight operations and line maintenance.
  • DBS Security Clearance and eligibility for SC clearance.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of UK Military Aviation and UK MFTS.
  • Experience with SAP and ERP software.
  • Type Rating and experience H135, H145.
  • Experience of Airbus Helicopters products.
  • Experience of Military Aviation.
  • 3 years’ experience in a certifying role.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Maintain aircraft availability levels of >98% at Shawbury (including deployments).

Other Requirements

  • Shift working as part of normal working pattern.
  • Possible travel between Valley, Shawbury and Oxford.
  • Export Compliance Regulations eligibility.
