Sheet Metal Fabricator/Fitter role at Airbus Helicopters UK Ltd located at Oxford Airport. Responsible for designing, manufacturing, inspecting, and repairing sheet metal parts for helicopter customization and maintenance. Works closely with the design team on prototype and series production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accomplish work as directed by Installation Supervisor or Certifying Engineer
  • Manufacture detailed parts from sheet metal
  • Inspect and assemble parts manufactured by subcontractors
  • Apply protective coatings
  • Work closely with the design team
  • Ensure all parts comply with design data for safe aerial operation
  • Assist in day‑to‑day hangar operations, including aircraft handling
  • Maintain high standards housekeeping under Airbus “Clean As You Go” initiative
  • Work within a highly regulated environment; carry out repairs to cockpit structures and components
  • Adapt to changing priorities and work as part of a team or individually

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Teamwork and working independently with high standards
  • Read and understand detailed engineering drawings and data
  • Good manual hand skills, advanced DIY interest
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Strong communication, organization and methodical approach
  • Calm under pressure, reliability
  • Knowledge of H&S PPE requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

Desirable

  • Knowledge of sheet‑metal tolerance manufacturing techniques
  • Understanding of fasteners, rivets, mechanical fasteners and adhesive bonding in aviation
  • Experience with SAP / Envision Aviation, sheet‑metal and composites experience

Education & Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in Fabrication
  • Previous experience in sheet metal working, metal fabrication, mechanical fitting or automotive repair
  • Clean driving licence

Additional Requirements

  • DBS Security Clearance (eligible for SC clearance)
  • Compliance with Export Regulations
  • Legal right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship)
  • Shift working may be required (shift allowance payable)
  • Occasional travel to subcontractors or other Airbus facilities, including overseas
