Job Overview

As Head of Accounting, you will lead the finance and accounting function for AHUK, overseeing end‑to‑end finance operations, financial analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, audit coordination, and the preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS.

Responsibilities

  • Direct financial statement preparation and ensure compliance with UK GAAP & IFRS.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with auditors, coordinating audit preparation and ensuring timely delivery of statutory accounts.
  • Release accurate and timely monthly financial statements and maintain monthly closing schedules.
  • Prepare data for reporting and generate the deferred tax pack for group accounting each year.
  • Draft and finalise statutory accounts, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Prepare corporation tax packs for tax advisors and manage VAT returns, payments, and other statutory reports.
  • Collaborate with other departments on customs tariffs, import VAT, and duty matters.
  • Maintain e Bam banking database and update bank mandates; keep Companies House records current.
  • Supervise an accounting team of four personnel.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer focus and oversee accounts receivable and cash collection.
  • Manage the accounts payable function and payroll processing (subcontracted to Airbus).
  • Ensure effective financial controls are defined and adhered to.
  • Write and update financial policies, improving systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with IT on all accounting software and financial system issues.
  • Provide treasury and management reporting.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Detailed knowledge of SAP.
  • Detailed knowledge of FRS102.
  • Professional accountancy qualification such as ACA or ACCA.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and self‑starter qualities.
  • Excellent communication across varied audiences.

Desirable

  • Proficiency in a foreign language (French or German).
  • Additional Requirements
  • Nation al Security Vetting: SC clearance (typically requires 5 years of UK residence).
  • Mandatory BPSS check.
  • Compliance with Export Compliance Regulations.
  • Legal right to work in the United Kingdom; no sponsorship provided.
