Airbus Helicopters Ltd is seeking 6 Aircraft Engineering Apprentices (B1.3 Mechanical and B2 Avionic) to join the team at RAF Shawbury, Shropshire. The apprenticeship trains apprentices to become licensed aircraft engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Complete CAA Part 66 aviation engineering module examinations and practical tasks.
  • Develop mechanical helicopter maintenance and rectification knowledge, skills and safe systems of work, and record evidence of maintenance activities.
  • Work at height, handle hazardous substances, and work in confined areas.
  • Assist with day‑to‑day hangar operations, aircraft movement and housekeeping.

Qualifications

  • An overall score of 18 or more is preferred.
  • Core knowledge of aviation maintenance; interest in engineering.
  • Ability to attend residential training at Kemble Airfield and work regular hours at Kidlington.

Selection Criteria

  • Applicants are assessed based on their GCSE/A‑level grades, relevant coursework (e.g., BTEC), and a demonstrated interest in aviation.
  • Strong written communication and teamwork skills are valued.

Additional Information

  • Applicants will require GSAT training, DBS Security Clearance and eligibility for SC clearance.
  • ITAR/Export Compliance requirements must be met.
  • Travel within the UK, and to Kidlington and Kemble Airfield for training.
