What you will be doing
Year 1: Building Strong Foundations
Building Services, Engineering Service & Maintenance Engineer
Level 3 qualification provided by GLP Training
Based on our Stevenage Site for the Apprenticeship timeline with 2 days working at GLP training facility in Worcester every quarter.
- Get started with a comprehensive site induction β from learning the ropes to meeting the key people who keep our sites running.
 - Develop your time and project management skills, making sure every task is delivered on point.
 - Discover the roles and responsibilities of the experts around you β and how youβll work together as part of a high-performing team.
 - Dive into the world of Mechanical & Electrical systems β understanding the science of electricity and how it powers everything we do.
 - Get hands-on with system testing β decommissioning, fault finding, diagnosis, and replacing key components across a variety of systems.
 
Year 2: Growing Your Expertise
Step up into planned and reactive maintenance β taking ownership of risk assessments, work programmes, control systems, and reporting.
- Master air conditioning and cooling systems β from the science behind heating & cooling, to optimising Building Management Systems (BMS) for comfort and efficiency.
 - Hone your customer interaction skills β ensuring safe, compliant, and professional delivery every time.
 - Gain a working knowledge of essential regulations (PUWER, RIDDOR, COSHH, LOLER, MHOR, PPE, Electricity at Work, Work at Height, Asbestos & Building Regulations).
 
Outward Bounds
During the 2nd year of the apprenticeship, you will attend a week of Team Building Activities and Exercises at one of the Outward Bounds UK Sites. Split up into teams consisting of Apprentices of all levels from various Airbus Defence & Space sites, you will work as a team to complete daily activities such as Rock Climbing, Hiking, Abseiling, Canoeing and more.
Year 3: Becoming a Specialist
Develop expertise in water treatment and testing β including legislation, hygiene, and legionella prevention.
- Deepen your knowledge of sustainability β mastering scientific principles of measurement, force and pressure, and environmental protection measures.
 - Learn advanced installation, maintenance, and repair techniques while staying on top of evolving regulations.
 
Contract Management & Professional Growth
Build confidence in contract management β including supplier management, KPI assessment, recording, and process confirmations.
- Prepare for your End-Point Assessment with a knowledge test, written project, practical observation, and professional discussion β the final step in showcasing your skills.

Requirements
Eligibility: Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths, English Language and Science.

GOVERNMENT FUNDING: This job is offered as a government funded Apprenticeship, subject to eligibility for Apprenticeship Levy Funding. To qualify applicants must meet certain criteria and be eligible under current Apprenticeship funding rules. All eligible applicants are welcome to apply.
