What you will be doing
An exciting opportunity for a Computing Engineering Apprentice within the Cyber Security Division at Airbus Defence & Space in Newport, South Wales, working within the UK Defence industry. You will report to the Support Manager and work on advanced high-grade crypto systems and key management systems to protect Governments, Military, Enterprise Organizations and essential National Infrastructure from cyber threats.
You will be trained in high-grade cryptographic development and learn about our Ectocryp and CertSecure suites of products. You will join a team of engineers delivering the next generation of encryption devices. You will receive on-the-job training and a formal degree qualification while being paid with no course fees. You will study towards a BSc (Hons) Computing (Computer Networks and Cybersecurity) degree provided by the University of Wales Trinity St. David\'s.
You will learn to interface with internal and external customers to capture information to aid in issue resolution. Skills taught include:
- Information gathering
- Technical troubleshooting
- Effective communication
- Use of ITSM techniques and tools
- General computer application and IT support disciplines
- Teamwork
- Software/hardware installation
- Triage of faulty equipment
- MS Active Directory administration
- Product support for cryptography and cyber security tools
Requirements
In order to be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:
- 3 A Levels (A-C) with at least one in a STEM subject
What successful candidates will demonstrate

- Highly self-motivated, articulate, with good verbal and written communications skills
- Keen to learn and curious
