We are looking for a Satellite Operation Engineer to join Airbus Defence & Space in Corsham, Wiltshire. You will join our Secure Communication business line and report to the Spacecraft Operations Team Lead. As one of the world's leading providers of managed secure communications, we are responsible for our customers' time- and mission-critical communications. We do this for all communications applications, whether they're land, airborne or naval.

You will join a dynamic and energetic Spacecraft Operations team, responsible for ensuring that the Company's in-orbit spacecraft platform activities are conducted safely to maximise the useful life of the spacecraft. Your role will include involvement in company projects and representing Airbus as part of the customer monitoring team throughout the assembly integration and test phase of any new spacecraft.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM:

  • Make sure that all operational products are ready for the SK6A LEOP and the transition to On-Station.
  • Assess and analyse the health of the SKYNET fleet.
  • Advise the Spacecraft Management Authority as SKYNET spacecraft specialist.
  • Understand and monitor spacecraft subsystems (platform and payload) through monthly and yearly analysis.
  • Provide technical support to spacecraft on-station operations.
  • Write, validate and technically review SKYNET Operating Procedures and associated documentation.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Spacecraft operation experience.
  • An understanding of satellite design and AIT phase.
  • Have a flair for trouble spotting and be able to take and hold sound decisions - even in the face of adverse reactions.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills and ability to report succinctly on all aspects.
