Have you been developing software for approx 8+ years? Enjoy working in a fluid environment and filling in the gaps for unclear requirements? Knowledge of machine-to-machine communication protocols? Interested in building virtual spacecraft? Then we might have a role for you!
Due to increased workload, the Simulation & Modelling team are looking for an experienced software engineer. This role will be focusing on designing and development of simulators and test benches that enable a wide range of departments to validate and verify spacecraft functionality.
You will be joining a friendly and knowledge sharing UK team of 10+ engineers working closely with Architects and PMs. The career progression for this role is Architect, Expert or Systems Engineering.
How you will Contribute to the team:
- Work on Telecommunications, Earth Observation & Science missions Projects like ARIEL, Vigil, ExoMars Rover, OneSat (and more) for ESA and the UK MOD
- Understand that your software is used for testing spacecraft software and hardware, which results in moving requirements and sometimes the need to clarify those requirements
- Work closely with other engineering teams to ensure the successful deployment and use of the test benches. Knowledge share with Early Careers Engineers
- Technical requirements analysis, software design and implementation, technical follow up of external teams, system integration, testing and delivery of the benches.
About you:
- Due to security restrictions most of our technology will be legacy/historic, you need to be comfortable with this
- Machine to Machine (M2M) / network protocols and experience with Linux/Unix (any distro) and happy to work with Redhat
- Object Oriented analysis & design using UML (or similar), with good knowledge of development domains, frameworks and utilities
- Excellent and proven C++ & Java programming skills especially in the development of robust client/server architectures
- Proven track record of managing the full software development life cycle, from initial requirements gathering through to final testing
