About the Role
We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join us at Airbus Defence & Space in Portsmouth. Working in a team of 7, you will be servicing and fixing communications equipment aboard ships, including static site maintenance. You will be usually working on UK docked ships, however you will occasionally be required abroad and working on a ship at sea.
How you will contribute to the team
- Provide on-site and remote Field Engineering support for Maritime and Remote Terminals under contract.
- Conduct fault finding, system testing, and commissioning across RF, IP/TCP, VoIP, routers, switches, multiplexers, and network switching.
- Supervise subcontractors on installation projects and ensure quality standards are met.
- Deliver global field support to Defence and Space customers, ensuring contracted equipment availability.
- Provide out-of-hours telephone support and rapid issue resolution within agreed response times.
About you
- Experience in a Military Field Service and support environment.
- Strong Satellite Communications knowledge, including RF systems (Ka, X Band), Baseband systems (IP & ATM), and Modem functions.
- Experience in test and repair within complex military or equivalent environments.
- Full and clean UK Driving Licence with the ability to travel globally for field support.
