In the frame of the new Operations organization, OM organisation is made up of a number of complementary industrial disciplines to co-design the industrial systems solutions for our products and components, according to selected architectures and technologies, embedding the support to suppliers.
This job is offered by OMFK, the team of the Industrial Architects Serial CAF/CAF. You will deal with a worldwide network of colleagues working for e.g. ASAs, Plants, FALs, Design Office, Research Technologies & Development, Modeling & Simulation and Industrial Architects from other departments.

RoleSerial CAF/FAF considers the structural and systems installation on all rear fuselages and belonging subcomponents of all existing AC programmes all over the world.
Your role as OMFK Industrial System Designer is to deliver:
- Structural & System requirements and its cascade down to the designated plant
- a plan to verify and validate concepts
- support to ramp-up and recovery projects
- industrial system design in synchronization with the Aircraft design (namely “Co-design”), increasing maturity throughout early development of changes
A strong experience within structural assembly and/or systems installation and co-design will be appreciated.
MissionAs Industrial Architect for serial CAF/FAF, you will drive the definition and validation of changes in both the industrial system and AC design impacting the industrial system considering structure and systems on all rear fuselages of every flying programme:
In details you shall:
- Raise MFTs to Co-design changes to the industrial system together with the Aircraft, aligning on the Build Process, the Datum strategy, Tolerance analysis, Process capabilities and negotiating frontier drawings (with Design Office, other components Industrial Architects, Operations, Logistics, etc.).
- Perform technology selection mapping, to develop the most cost-effective and efficient technologies to be implemented during STEP's or investments for ramp-up
- Define / re-define Build Concept from Value Stream Analysis approach, in order to validate/improve industrial architecture, including the industrial structure breakdown, the definition of main material flow
- Ensure route to Top Programme Objectives achievement
- Systems Engineering: Define and Validate the Top Level Industrial Requirements and create the Industrial V&V plan, identifying and scheduling the means of compliance to conduct the verification
- Define, negotiate and integrate manufacturing requirements to ensure End-to-End industrial process and other activities optimization
- Challenge and validate the product definition dossier to secure the industrial targets, contribute to overall trades for aircraft and industrial performances, in close collaboration with Components, Equipment and/or Technologies.
- Assess the industrial performances (called “Figures of Merit”) linked to the industrial concept regarding workload sizing, quality objectives, lead-time assessment (Standard Line Balancing, cycle time and critical path identification) industrial costs, i.e. Recurring Costs (considering the main production operations) & Non Recurring Costs (considering the number of stations, main jigs, tools and machines, as well as the conceptual plant layout)
- Identify improvement opportunities, analyze the current situation and potential benefits, apply lean principles by selection of appropriate approaches, methods and tool, and lead or contribute to deliver business improvements
- Ensure close collaboration “push-pull” with the respective stakeholders, support with your expertise, and deploy any initiatives as per business needs and opportunities
- Be a key actor with a leadership role, interacting with Programmes, Plants & FALs, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Finance organizations, capable to deliver a broad view on industrial Standard and Competition
- Knowledge capitalization: Ensure to take onboard past experience, structure your knowledge and lessons learned as you go and make it available for the community.

An 'Industrial System' refers to all important industrial features that need to be defined in the frame of a new programme/derivative/step change, such as Industrial structure breakdown and interfaces, manufacturing and assembly flow description, industrial processes, technology selection, transportation and handling, major machines, jigs and tools for assembly lines, line design, all major assemblies and critical elementary parts, industrial performances (costs, cycle times, workload, rate, ramp-up...).
In his role, the Industrial Architect shall secure the consideration of industrial aspects in the Aircraft definition and manage the design of the Industrial System in synchronization with the Aircraft design, increasing maturity throughout early development.
Inputs: Top Programme Objectives, or Change note, Change Request and Mod Decision, Allocated Requirements, Program Assumption Pack, Project Master Plan, Program V&V Strategy, Physical A/C V&V plan, TRL Gate Review Data Pack, A/C Trade Studies, Preliminary Space Allocation Model, Master Geometry, Project Make or Buy policy.
Outputs: Industrial V&V plan, Top Level Industrial Requirements, Industrial Influence and Feed-back for Technology Selection, Build Concept, Trade Studies, Industrial System Concept, Workload and industrial Means sizing, Industrial cost, and performances, Industrial Architecture Dossier.
