As a Product Owner, you are at the heart of this journey. Reporting to the Product Lead, you aren’t just managing a backlog; you are championing product excellence for the people who handle law enforcement, fire and medical emergencies, and search and rescue operations. You will operate in a high-energy, discovery-led team. This isn’t just backlog management; it’s about bridging the gap between strategic vision and mission-critical technical delivery.
User-First Discovery: You are obsessed with the frontline. You will spend time in the field with users to ensure our solutions solve real-world problems.
Strategic Execution: You own your product domain. You will align your roadmap with quarterly OKRs and manage the technical hierarchy of Stability > Utility > Beauty.
Dynamic Leadership: You are a self-starter comfortable in a fast-paced environment. You have the maturity to lead critical workstreams independently while being ready to be led as part of a collaborative team.
What you’ll do:
- Strategic Alignment: Ensure that your product domain achieves the quarterly product OKRs set by the Product Lead, and support the company’s overall business, technology, and product strategy.
- Product Ownership: Take responsibility for your product's delivery and performance, proactively addressing any underperformance and celebrating successes.
- User Focus: Become an expert on the user and their needs by working closely with the Senior Product Manager.
- Product Expert: Become the primary source of knowledge for product demonstrations and information by developing a deep understanding of the product and its use cases.
- Team Collaboration: Work within a cross-functional product team alongside a Senior Product Manager, primarily handling all Agile product management practices (ceremonies, backlog, refinement/replenishment etc). Ensure a shared understanding of priorities and progress between the product team and stakeholders.
- Oversee and Organise the Product Backlog: Ensure it accurately reflects priorities and goals. Base decisions on evolving user needs, analytics, feedback, and technical constraints.
- Solution Exploration: Support the Senior Product Manager in pre-development solution experimentation discovery with end users.
- Building and Optimising Solutions: Collaborate with the Senior Product Manager and cross-functional product team to deliver valuable solutions to the end user. Use value-based prioritisation, set success criteria, measure outcomes and make decisions to iterate or roll back until you reach your goal.
- Proactively Identify and Address Risks and Dependencies: Ensure these don’t impact the delivery of releases and upgrades.
- Programme Management: Deliver complex programmes of product work from inception to delivery, coordinating with cross-functional teams, including sales, design, engineering and marketing.
- Documentation: Create and own the internal and external product documentation for your product. Write release notes and support creation of marketing and sales collateral.
- Product Best Practice: Advance product best practice and principles within your product team and the product department, driving continuous improvement.
About You:
- The Scale-up Professional: You have a proven track record in high-growth environments, delivering Agile products across App and Web UI.
- The Platform Guardian: You can manage senior stakeholders and navigate complex requirements, always steering toward a scalable product vision rather than bespoke customisations.
- The Collaborative Leader: You can motivate diverse teams, from developers to account managers, and thrive on building relationships across the business.
- The Technical Problem-Solver: You grasp complex technical concepts quickly and engage meaningfully with engineers to solve difficult architectural and logic challenges.
- The Mission-Critical Mindset: You are proactive, highly organised, and possess a "calm in the storm" attitude. You understand that in our industry, "good enough" isn’t an option.
Essentials:
- Security: Ability to pass NPPV3 clearance (requires 3 years of UK residency).
- Travel: Willingness for regular travel across the UK to meet with end users and stakeholders.
- Attitude: A positive, proactive approach with a relentless drive to take on responsibility and deliver results.
Bonus:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Prior involvement in emergency services, military, aviation or drone technology.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner.
What we offer:
- The chance to work with a passionate team that’s working together every day towards our shared big ambitious goal.
- A dynamic, flexible and fun scale-up work environment with a highly talented team.
- 26 days holiday per year, plus public holidays.
- Private medical cover with Bupa for all our colleagues.
- Pension scheme, offering up to 6% matching contribution.
- Up to 20 Nomad Working Days per annum.
- Electric Car Scheme.
- Flexible & Hybrid Working: We said you'll get freedom to work in a way that is best for you, and that extends to being in the office – or not. Work better from home? No worries. Prefer the office? Come on down. We have 2 mandatory Townhall days; Spring and Autumn, where the whole business gets together. When you visit the office you won’t just find rows and rows of desks. No, you’ll find our colleagues meeting on the walking pads, having planning sessions over a game of tennis table or grabbing a bean bag in our ‘Quality’ collaborative space – that’s right we live our values so much, we named our meeting spaces after them. You can also shape work around your life at Airbox Systems; most colleagues work our core hours of 9am-5pm with others flexibly between 7am-7pm. Whether you’re fitting in a spin class or the school run, you’ll have the flexibility for whatever matters most. All we ask in return is that you produce great work, but when you’re working with passionate people, that part comes naturally.
