Airbotics Talent have exclusively partnered with an innovative international UAV scaleup who operate within the defence and ISR space. They are now seeking a VP Business Development to establish their business and products in the UK defence market. This includes working to establish a UK subsidiary, security vetting, ensuring compliance, procurement registration in place etc before mapping out routes to and identifying sales opportunities with the MoD both through direct and partnership channels.
This role is initially on a 10-20 hour Consultancy Contract basis and can be run alongside existing permanent or Contract commitments. There is opportunity for this role to develop to a permanent position in the future.
The Role
As VP Business Development, this role will sit at an executive level and report directly to the CEO. Initially as a high impact standalone role, there is potential for the incumbent to scale a high performing Sales & Business Development team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish a UK entity and all previously referenced processes to ensure the business is established to supply goods and services to the MoD.
- Responsible for all business development and sales activity of a small but well established UAS company in the commercial and defence space.
- Create a strategic sales strategy with defined processes, goals, deadlines and deliverables.
- Ability to execute this strategy with a hands on and customer centric approach to new business development.
- Inquisitive nature and commercial acumen to sell systems through UK defence channels, with a primary emphasis on the various MoD procurement frameworks such as DE&S, DSTL, DASA and DSP.
- Explore opportunities to partner with major UK-based defence contractors.
- Offer a technical sales process to customers, with insights on products, services, data development etc.
- Create a platform for the growth and development of an established sales structure.
The Person
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in selling fixed wing or multi-rotor UAS in to the MoD and domestic defence applications and programs.
- A clear understanding of the commercial UAS space, preferably globally.
- A previous grounding or tenure in the British armed forces would be advantageous.
- A natural "hunter" profile.
- A winning mentality and an impactful sales and business leader.
- The ability to be mobile and willing and available for travel to locations across the UK and Europe.
- A Degree in Avionics Engineering, Uncrewed and Autonomous Systems or associated Engineering fields would be advantageous but not essential.
