This is a varied role that combines stores management, equipment control, procurement, maintenance coordination and administration. You will play an important part in ensuring our operational teams have the correct equipment and materials available when they need them, while making sure equipment remains appropriately maintained, serviced, calibrated and recorded.

You will work closely with our asbestos, water hygiene, laboratory, operations, administration and finance teams, as well as manufacturers, suppliers and specialist service providers.

  • Maintain accurate equipment and stock registers, including location, condition, servicing, calibration, repair and maintenance records.
  • Prepare equipment and PPE kits for site teams and new starters and maintain emergency and spare equipment supplies.
  • Monitor servicing, inspection and calibration requirements, arranging work with approved suppliers and ensuring equipment is checked before returning to operational use.
  • Identify damaged, faulty, obsolete or uneconomical equipment and coordinate repair, replacement or disposal.
  • Monitor stock levels, carry out regular stock checks and stocktakes, investigate discrepancies and minimise shortages, over-ordering and waste.
  • Receive, inspect, store and issue equipment and consumables, ensuring items are correctly identified and recorded.
  • Raise purchase orders, obtain quotations, liaise with suppliers and monitor orders, deliveries and associated documentation.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs and servicing, tracking items through the process and maintaining accurate records of costs and downtime.
  • Maintain electronic and paper-based records, spreadsheets and databases to support audits, quality procedures, UKAS requirements and financial reporting.
  • Liaise with operational, technical, laboratory, administration and finance teams to ensure equipment and stock requirements are met.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment utilisation, purchasing, stock control and value for money.
  • Maintain clean, organised and clearly identified storage areas.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the level of the role.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Previous experience in stores, inventory, equipment management, purchasing or a similar role.
  • Previous experience within the asbestos, environmental, laboratory, occupational hygiene or water hygiene sectors.
  • Knowledge of asbestos analytical/survey equipment.
  • Familiarity with air sampling pumps and flow calibration equipment.
  • Experience with microscopes or laboratory equipment.
  • Knowledge of UKAS laboratory requirements.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience maintaining stock, asset or equipment records.
  • Experience raising purchase orders and dealing with suppliers.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • A structured and reliable approach to record keeping.
  • The ability to manage several priorities and changing operational requirements.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of the stores function.
  • A practical approach to problem solving.
  • A full UK driving licence where required for the role.
  • Experience managing equipment calibration and servicing schedules.
  • Knowledge of water hygiene equipment.
  • Experience using stock-control, purchasing or asset-management software.
  • IOSH, asbestos awareness or other relevant health and safety training.
