This temporary assignment will be working at Airbnb, and may involve working at an Airbnb site; you will however be contracted through Magnit Global, a UK registered employment business. If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! We are hiring a Senior Communications Manager, NEMEA for a one year maternity contract to tell the Airbnb story in the UK, Nordics and Middle East. The communications team is responsible for telling the Airbnb story around the world.

This is not your average Communications role. You will have the opportunity to drive impactful campaigns and partnerships working cross functionally with marketing, policy, partnerships and legal, and work across a range of complex, high impact, and highly relevant topics, and engage directly with journalists. Your work will be diverse and exciting, including creating and executing cross-functional campaigns that deliver against business and policy goals, and developing compelling narratives and earned media stories that put Airbnb at the heart of culture, driving buzz, awareness and trust across the UK, Nordics and ME.

A typical day

This role is roughly 50% UK and 50% Nordics and Middle East with ability to flex. In the UK you will create and lead some of our impactful consumer campaigns working cross functionally with the business, partnerships, marketing, legal (other teams as appropriate) to amplify brand partnerships, ensuring alignment with comms strategy and local narratives. You will work closely with our UK Senior Consumer Comms Manager who is responsible for driving consumer awareness campaigns and leading the editorial press office in the UK to ensure Airbnb is positively talked about in the media. You will work alongside our UK influencer manager who will manage influencer engagement which may form part of some of the programmes, campaigns and partnerships that you will lead.

In the Nordics, you will lead press office storytelling proactively and reactively to establish Airbnb in the region (primarily Sweden) and continue to drive momentum for the company and travel inspiration to consumers. Working with Marketing, you will create and deliver set-piece high impact consumer activations to drive awareness and favourability for Airbnb, working with local agencies on execution. In the Middle East, you will establish a corporate press office and storytelling opportunities across business, consumer and technology media, supporting our policy goals and managing the reactive press office.

Core competencies

  • Working across earned, paid, and influencer to ensure that partnerships come to life through compelling, consumer-facing campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and media coverage across the UK & Nordics.
  • Creating compelling narratives that underpin commercial or co-promotional partnerships that can be utilized across earned media, social, and influencer channels.
  • Staying ahead of consumer, cultural, and media trends to inform storytelling.
  • Understanding of corporate reputation and the interplay between corporate and consumer comms.
  • Developing written materials (press releases, blog posts, story pitches, Q&As, briefs, messaging, presentations etc.)
  • Proficiency in agency management, and ensuring key processes are adhered to, including campaign project management, reporting, budget tracking, localisations, and evaluating performance to ensure delivery of impactful results.
  • Developing coverage reports, evaluating and measuring coverage impact.

Your expertise

  • 8-10+ years of communications experience both consumer and corporate comms, either in a PR agency or an in-house communications team.
  • Proven-track record of developing and executing creative consumer campaigns that generate positive earned media coverage, widespread awareness, and brand buzz.
  • Strong understanding of the UK media landscape and established relationships with key media outlets and some experience of working across the Nordics and ME.
  • Strong awareness of pop culture with a flair for storytelling and creating multi-channel campaigns that build reputation, social engagement, and earned media.
  • Skilled at delivering complex, proactive press programmes, corporate comms initiatives, ranging from research/data-driven stories and trends, campaigns, and press events.
  • Adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
  • Confident in leading meetings with external partners, senior stakeholders and media.
  • Proactive, solutions focused, taking initiative to deliver impact whilst showing an appreciation for the structures and processes of a global business.
  • Experience of project management, working in a fast-paced environment, keeping on top of processes, revisions to documents, and a keen eye for detail and delivery.
