Job Title: Broadband Installation Engineer

Location: North Devon

Job Type: Full-Time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Salary: £31,000 to £35,180 Per Annum DOE + Discretionary Annual Bonus + Company Vehicle Provided

Role Summary

The Broadband Installation Engineer plays a key role in delivering high‑quality broadband connections to customers, ensuring every installation is completed safely, efficiently, and to Airband’s expected standards. The role involves installing and servicing both Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) solutions, while providing a professional and positive customer experience at every stage of the visit.

As a representative of Airband, the Broadband Installation Engineer is also expected to uphold company values, maintain high standards of customer care and contribute to the growth of the business by supporting a reliable and professional installation service.

Responsibilities

  • Install Fibre and Wireless services from Airband main network to the customer's premises, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to safety standards.
  • Set up and configure routers, modems, and other networking hardware & software to provide seamless full fibre and wireless connectivity.
  • Perform thorough testing services to confirm functionality and signal strength.
  • Deliver all installations in a professional manner.
  • Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness.
  • Maintain own stock levels & vehicle cleanliness.
  • Complete fibre and wireless install surveys using IT equipment such as laptop, phone, and tablets.
  • Use Fibre Cloud, Weezie and third‑party network architecture software to provide detailed install plans.
  • Submit defected infrastructure using provided software/apps.
  • Use business systems including PIA, Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, PeopleHR, Health & Safety Apps, SICON.
  • Use a wide range of hand and power tools to aid in the installation of customer fibre and wireless services.
  • Use a hoist to survey or install when needed.
  • Out of Hours (OOH) on‑call work may be required on a rota basis.
  • Work closely with field and office‑based colleagues.
  • Liaise with third parties including landowners, utilities, build contractors, landlords and customers.
  • Comply with the company Vehicle Policy.

Essential training will be provided to fill any certification gaps.

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience of telecommunication installations.
  • Experience working in relevant environment multi‑functional telecommunications role.
  • Demonstrable experience of learning new technologies in a fast‑paced organisation.

Desirable

  • Experience of FWA installations.

  • Colour blindness – the role involves working with colour‑coded fibre optic cabling, requiring the ability to accurately distinguish between colours.
  • Weight restriction – the role requires the use of safety harnesses, which have a maximum user weight limit of 140 kg (including clothing, tools, and equipment where applicable).
  • Claustrophobia – the role may involve working in confined or restricted spaces, including ducts, chambers, and other enclosed environments.
  • Acrophobia / Vertigo – the role involves working at height using ladders, platforms, towers, or similar access equipment and requires comfort and competence when working in elevated positions.
