Job Summary:
The Network Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations, availability, and performance of our ISP network. This includes oversight of broadband edge services, IP addressing, capacity management, routing, BNG and customer premises equipment. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic planning to ensure the network delivers reliable, scalable, and secure services to our customers.
This is a technical role requiring expertise in IP networking and ISP infrastructure, together with the ability to lead the Network Operations Centre (NOC) and collaborate across the business.
At Airband, our Networks Team is at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge connectivity to rural communities. Weβve recently launched a hyperfast 1Gbps wireless broadband package, powered by our latest Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology. With four upgraded sites already live in Shropshire and Wrexham, our enhanced network now reaches over 11,000 properties β and weβre on track to extend coverage to another 30,000 by the end of the year. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of network engineers and NOC staff, ensuring high quality operations support for ISP services.
- Operate and maintain BNG platforms (subscriber management, policy control, authentication, QoS).
- Manage the IP core and aggregation network (routing, MPLS, VRFs, segment routing).
- Oversee IP address management including RIPE allocations, DHCP systems, CGNAT platforms.
- Ensure the CPE estate is supported, including firmware management, TR069/USP ACS platforms, provisioning, and interoperability testing.
- Monitor and manage capacity across access, backhaul, peering, and transit links, planning upgrades before saturation.
- Ensure service availability across internet transit, IXP connections, peering agreements, and interconnects.
- Implement, maintain, and continuously improve network monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting processes.
- Collaborate with Customer Service and Field Engineering to ensure customer impacting issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Own the NOC/network budget, including forecasting for hardware, software, licensing, and capacity expansion.
