About the Role
We are seeking a skilled HV Cable Jointer to join a growing power infrastructure team supporting transmission and distribution projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, jointing, termination, testing, and maintenance of high-voltage underground cable systems. This role is ideal for a qualified electrical tradesperson with experience working on MV/HV networks and utility infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and joint high-voltage underground power cables (11kV – 132kV+)
- Perform straight joints, transition joints, and indoor/outdoor terminations
- Work with cable systems including XLPE, PILC, and EPRA
- Assist with cable pulling, duct installation, and trench preparation
- Install cable accessories including link boxes, earthing systems, glands, and cleats
- Conduct electrical testing including insulation resistance, continuity, VLF testing, and phasing
- Support commissioning and energisation of HV cable circuits
- Diagnose and repair cable faults on utility networks
- Maintain strict compliance with HV safety procedures and lock-out/tag-out protocols
- Complete testing reports and installation documentation
Voltage Levels
- MV: 6.6kV – 33kV
- HV: 66kV – 132kV
- EHV (specialist projects): 220kV – 400kV
Requirements
- Electrical Trade Qualification / Electrical Trade Test
- Certified or trained in HV cable jointing
- 3–10+ years' experience in cable jointing within utilities, electrical infrastructure, or power construction
- Experience working on 11kV / 33kV / 132kV cable systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and cable layouts
- Strong understanding of HV safety standards and procedures
