Retail & Experiential Designer — 3D / 2D
Battersea / Hybrid | £35,000–£60,000 + Benefits
We’re looking for a Retail & Experiential Designer to join an independent design and production studio creating physical brand experiences for major global brands.
Projects span flagship retail environments, pop-ups, exhibitions, live events and brand activations across the UK and internationally.
The role
Working closely with Directors, Producers and Production Managers, you’ll develop ideas into considered, visually compelling environments that can be built and delivered.
Your work will combine 3D spatial design and 2D graphic application, bringing brand identity into physical spaces through layout, structures, displays, materials, finishes, signage and graphics.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing concepts for retail environments, pop-ups, exhibitions and brand activations.
- Translating client briefs and brand guidelines into distinctive physical experiences.
- Creating spatial layouts, 3D models, visualisations and presentation materials.
- Designing supporting 2D graphics, signage and branded elements.
- Developing concepts through materials, finishes, lighting and construction details.
- Preparing design information for production and collaborating on technical development.
- Working with Producers and Production Managers to balance design ambition, budget and programme.
- Reviewing supplier proposals, samples and fabrication details to protect design intent.
- Incorporating client feedback and presenting your thinking clearly.
- Supporting site visits and installation reviews where required.
What we’re looking for
You’ll have a portfolio showing relevant work across retail design, branded environments, pop-ups, exhibitions, experiential installations or similar physical spaces.
We’d like to see:
- Strong spatial thinking and an understanding of how people move through and experience an environment.
- Confident 3D design and visualisation skills.
- The ability to apply brand identity through 2D graphics within a physical setting.
- An understanding of materials, finishes and practical production considerations.
- Experience developing ideas beyond initial concepts into deliverable designs.
- Confidence using relevant 3D software and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Clear communication and a collaborative approach.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to budgets and deadlines.
For more experienced applicants, we’ll look for greater independence in leading design development, presenting to clients and resolving production challenges.
Your portfolio should demonstrate physical environments and explain your contribution to the work. Relevant freelance, studio or agency experience is welcome.
What’s on offer
- £35,000–£60,000, depending on experience.
- Discretionary bonus.
- Unlimited holiday.
- Hybrid working between the Battersea studio and remote.
- Personal development allowance.
- Choice of hardware and software.
- Opportunities to work on UK and international projects.
- Direct collaboration with Directors, designers and production specialists.
If you enjoy turning brand ideas into beautifully designed physical environments, we’d love to hear from you.
