Are you an experienced social media or digital agency professional who loves building relationships, spotting opportunities and winning new business?

We're looking for a commercially minded, personable and ambitious Business Development Director to join a growing, creatively driven social media and digital marketing agency.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who understands social media, content and digital marketing, knows what makes brands successful online and can confidently engage senior marketing decision-makers.

You might currently be an Account Director, Senior Account Manager, Client Services Director or Business Development Manager within a social media, content, creative or digital agency.

What's important is that you understand the industry, speak your clients' language and know how to build relationships that lead to commercial opportunities.

This isn't about hard selling. It's about being the person clients genuinely want to work with.

Responsibilities of this Business Development Director include

  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities across social media, content and digital marketing.
  • Building relationships with brands, marketing directors and senior decision-makers.
  • Representing the agency at client meetings, networking events and industry functions.
  • Understanding prospective clients' marketing challenges and identifying where the agency can add value.
  • Leading initial conversations and helping shape creative, commercially compelling solutions.
  • Working alongside creative, social media and strategy teams on pitches and proposals.
  • Developing a strong pipeline of prospective clients and converting opportunities into long-term partnerships.
  • Keeping up to date with social media trends, platforms, content strategies and the changing digital landscape.
  • Playing a key role in the agency's commercial growth.

Experience we're looking for

  • A strong background in account management, client services or business development within a social media, content, creative or digital marketing agency.
  • A genuine understanding of social media marketing, content creation, influencer marketing and digital campaigns.
  • Experience building relationships with marketing teams and senior client stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to recognise new business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • A confident, engaging personality and a natural ability to connect with people.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and the motivation to generate new business.
  • The ability to translate marketing challenges into creative opportunities.

Previous experience winning new business would be advantageous, but we're equally interested in experienced agency account handlers who are ready to move into a more commercially focused role.

What's on offer?

  • Commission with £70,000–£80,000 OTE
  • The opportunity to play a key role in growing an ambitious social media and digital marketing agency.
  • A highly visible position with genuine influence over business growth.
  • The chance to work alongside talented creative, content and digital specialists.
  • A collaborative environment where ideas, relationships and commercial thinking are valued.
