Based in the UK&I region, this role involves supervising and/or performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, modification, installation and commissioning of relief valves at UK&I operational facilities, third party facilities, joint ventures and subsidiaries. What will you do?
- Your day-to-day role will support troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, installation of relief valves, and, when required, support the mechanical team.
- Be familiar with relief valves and pressure systems (P&ID documentation, CREDO, thermal and pilot relief valves) and competent with SAP transactions; able to write reports/EMRs to required standards.
- Have a basic understanding of centrifugal and reciprocating compressors and expanders, pumps, and the associated fluids and requirements.
- Assist the UK&I Maintenance Planner with planning and preparation of forthcoming shutdown activities; ensure proper manpower, materials and methods are selected to progress safely, efficiently and cost effectively.
- Prepare written reports within a reasonable time after completing an activity, including supporting technical information, drawings, spare parts used, scope of work, resources, durations, recommendations, methods/tools and future work.
How will you do it?
- Mentor other UK&I relief valve technicians to maintain authorisation and ensure UK&I has the required coverage to meet regulatory compliance and AP policies and procedures.
- Ensure planned preventive maintenance programs and all repair and overhaul work are carried out fully and effectively, maintaining regulatory compliance and cost control.
- Respond to major mechanical breakdowns: inspect, analyse the fault, repair and re-commission to minimise production loss.
- Adhere to the BSP safety philosophy; report safety-related incidents appropriately.
- Ensure that the work of maintenance personnel (including contractors and vendors) is adequately planned and supervised and maintained at a high level of effectiveness.
- Ensure Management of Change (MOC) requirements are in place for all activities, and that any changes, modifications or upgrades are documented and approved prior to implementation; ensure PM task compliance and post-work reports are completed.
- Act in compliance with Air Products policies and procedures to deliver world-class performance and identify improvements when appropriate.
- Continuously review and update the technical content of preventive maintenance procedures (JSA/WRA) and recommend changes to improve safety and/or quality.
- Provide advice and assistance to Plant Managers on maintenance matters (SAP/CREDO); draw on specialist engineering resources as needed; effective communication in English (spoken and written).
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all customers and departments providing service or support to the Mechanical Department.
- Participate in testing of equipment and machines, including commissioning and start-up of plant.
- Collect equipment data for new projects and plant modifications, allocate PM tasks and ensure these tasks are entered into the SAP database.
- Ensure actions from reports are followed up to conclusion.
- Be available out of hours to respond to mechanical breakdowns across UK&I (and occasionally Europe).
- Meet or exceed all individual goals set at the beginning of the year.
What are we looking for?
- Completion of a formal Mechanical Apprenticeship.
- Significant experience with process pressure systems and equipment (including the use of precision measuring equipment); experience in testing and overhaul of relief valves is advantageous.
- Understanding of materials and systems construction, lifting and rigging, schematics and layout drawings; familiarity with OEM maintenance manuals.
- Experience with large reciprocating and rotating machinery, expanders, pumps, involving a variety of fluids and specific requirements is advantageous.
