The General Duties Technician is responsible for providing maintenance support across production facilities and associated satellite sites. The role is primarily hands-on, focusing on practical maintenance activities, including preventative maintenance, housekeeping, and ensuring a safe and well-maintained working environment. The primary purpose of the role is to support assigned production facilities, ensuring that all general duties activities are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
This position requires a flexible and proactive approach, with an expectation to respond to requests across multiple locations as business needs dictate. Support may be required both during and outside normal working hours; therefore, the successful candidate must be adaptable, dependable, and readily available to meet operational requirements.
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am to 4:00pm
Friday: 8:00am to 3:00pm
What will you do?
- Ensure all production facilities are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition, enabling them to consistently achieve their performance targets.
- Ensure compliance with site statutory requirements, mechanical integrity programmes, and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Carry out routine housekeeping and preventative maintenance activities.
- Support corrective maintenance activities associated with plant and equipment failures (breakdowns).
- Work closely with the Mechanical Maintenance team to ensure the effective management of spare parts and consumable inventories.
- Coordinate and oversee LOLER and PUWER inspections on site.
- Refer to the separate accountabilities document for additional responsibilities.
What are we looking for?
- GCSEs in Maths, English and Science at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant experience in a similar role.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, including interactions with customers, regulatory bodies, and OSC operators.
- Ability to work independently and remotely, with a willingness to travel frequently between sites.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
- Able to work at pace and perform effectively under pressure.
- Experience working within industrial environments.
- Industrial or plant maintenance experience.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
- FLT (Forklift Truck) licence/certification preferred.
