We are looking for a Quality Management Systems Engineer to become a key member of the Regulatory & Quality team driving a positive quality culture across the UKI Industrial Gases business to maintain all ISO certifications and accreditations. The Quality Management Systems Engineer is a supporting role to the UKI operational team reporting to the EU Quality Manager. The role supports and develops the management systems to comply with the global ISO 9001 certification plus the additional certifications held by the UKI Operations team such as ISO 13485, ISO/FSSC 22000, ISO 17020, ISO 26000.
What will you do?
- Deliver a ‘quality’ operation, fully compliant with local legislations, Air Products corporate standards and relevant ISO standards, including any specific management systems responsibilities as per issued authorisation letters.
- Minimise any risk to employees, members of the public or the environment.
- Plan and execute daily activities independently while complying with Air Products internal standards.
- Work across cross‑functional teams to build and embed a quality culture in daily activities.
- Lead internal and external audits required to maintain quality certifications and to supply product to the marketplace.
- Challenge operational teams to meet customer quality expectations and address complex issues through root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions for non‑conformances and complaints.
- Facilitate and lead investigations on highly complex incidents.
- Lead cross‑functional teams in quality‑focused meetings, ensuring key topics are discussed, resolutions are agreed with defined timelines, and actions are completed.
- Monitor and analyse trends from quality KPIs, identify and escalate business risks using risk assessment techniques such as FMEA and HACCP, and implement innovative solutions to mitigate those risks.
What are we looking for?
- Preferred degree qualification in engineering, science or business discipline.
- Auditor training (preferable Lead auditor in ISO 9001).
- Awareness of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Chartered Engineer or Chartered Quality Professional and membership of a relevant institution.
- IOSH/CITB membership.
- Experience in a Quality Systems role or Operational Management role.
- Knowledge and skills to implement quality‑related programmes that ensure products and services continually meet customer requirements.
- Capable of forming good working relationships across the business and influencing others to deliver desired results.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to work remotely and travel as required.
- Self‑motivated independent worker.
- IT literate, experienced with computer management systems and Microsoft Office.
