Air Personnel are delighted to be supporting their client based at Kidlington Airport for an Avionic Wireman. You will be tasked with the manufacture and installation of looms and attaching equipment into aircraft under modification as part of a diverse and multi-skilled team. This will involve working closely with our in-house Part-21 design team. The manufacture of bespoke role equipment and customised options comes at the request of customers varying from the MOD to VVIP clients. An attention to detail, overt pride in your work and ownership of the task at hand is key to meeting the customer’s expectations to their satisfactory completion. You are also expected to maintain the safety and airworthiness of helicopters within the Installations department whilst being customised and maintained.
Main responsibilities
- Accomplishment of work as directed by the Installation Supervisor or Certifying Engineer.
- Working to high standards to ensure continued safe operation of the aircraft.
- Manufacture electrical looms and avionic systems in accordance with design data.
- Conduct off-aircraft work in workshops as required.
- Assist in day to day running of the hangar, including aircraft handling.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in line with the “Clean As You Go” initiative.
- Flexible working attitude to deal with the changing priorities within the department.
- Work within a highly regulated environment.
- Remove and refit panels and cowlings to helicopters and equipment.
- Work closely with the design office.
- Carry out repairs to aircraft wiring looms and avionic systems.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Ability to work as part of a team, and on own initiative, as well as to high standards in order to ensure the continued safe operation of the aircraft.
- Able to work in confined spaces.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
- Basic understanding of how to use test equipment, such as an AVO.
- Interest in DIY.
- Understanding of the use of soldering and crimping techniques for wiring connections.
- Basic understanding of wiring diagrams and/or production processes.
- Able to adhere to the requirements of H&S to wear the appropriate PPE for each task.
- Positive approach with a genuine enthusiasm for the role.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliable with ability to remain calm when under pressure.
- Well organised and methodical with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to use Google Office and MS products.
Desirable
- Ability to use SAP / Envision.
- Experience in loom building or installation.
- Troubleshooting and fault finding experience.
Education, Qualifications or Training
Essential
- Minimum Level 2 Qualification in electrical engineering or similar.
- Experience in Automotive, Aviation, Marine or other transport industry.
- Be able to produce a portfolio of work.
- Clean driving licence.

- Worked in an aviation environment.

Additional requirements
