We are seeking a skilled and experienced Air Conditioning Engineer with knowledge of chiller systems and air source heat pumps. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of commercial and residential HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, maintain, and repair air conditioning systems, chillers, and air source heat pumps
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs on mechanical and electrical components
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
- Commission new HVAC and ASHP installations
- Ensure all work complies with current health & safety regulations and industry standards
- Complete job reports, service records, and certification accurately
- Liaise professionally with clients, site managers, and supervisors
- Provide technical support and advice when required
Required Experience
- Proven experience working as an Air Conditioning Engineer
- Hands-on experience with: Split systems, VRV/VRF systems
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience in both installation and maintenance work
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 (or equivalent) in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, or HVAC
- F-Gas Category 1 certification (mandatory)
- City & Guilds or equivalent HVAC/refrigeration qualifications
- ASHP training or manufacturer-specific certifications (preferred)
Strong mechanical and electrical understanding. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and customer service skills. Organised, reliable, and safety-conscious. Ability to read technical drawings and manuals. Experience with BMS systems. IPAF, Pasma, CSCS. Chiller systems (air-cooled and/or water-cooled). Air Source Heat Pumps (domestic and/or commercial). Electrical knowledge (18th Edition desirable but not essential).
