What You’ll Bring to the Role:
- Professional Excellence - Qualified to a minimum of I.A.E.A or ATA (VDA) standard. Proven experience in motor engineering, ideally within an insurer, manufacturer-aligned network, or independent engineering environment. AQP approval is highly desirable.
- Technical Mastery - Strong ability to assess, value and negotiate repair costs, ensuring safety, accuracy and fairness. Skilled in vehicle valuations, total loss decision-making, and managing salvage and settlement outcomes. A deep understanding of salvage categories, repair economics, and the full end-to-end claims process.
- Industry Insight - Proficient in estimating platforms such as Audatex and GT Motive.
Responsibilities:
- Produce high-quality, accurate engineering reports.
- Assess, value, and negotiate repair costs and supplementary estimates.
- Provide vehicle valuations and negotiate total loss settlements.
- Apply expert knowledge of salvage categories and repair methodology.
- Manage cases across the full claims lifecycle, ensuring FCA-aligned fairness and transparency.
- Liaise with the Suppliers, repairers, customers, and wider claims colleagues.
- Support team members and contribute to continuous process improvement.
Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications:
- Inspection competence across Cars, LCVs, HGVs, Agricultural equipment.
- Ability to resolve customer and repairer technical complaints professionally.
- Strong understanding of consistency of damage, diminution in value, and repair methodology.
- Ensure all engineering instructions and reports meet required SLA timescales.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload.
- High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and strong problem-solving ability.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment, using your own initiative.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident negotiator with the ability to handle sensitive or confidential material.
- A team-focused approach, contributing to an engaging and collaborative working environment.
