This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced motor claims professional to join a growing and progressive insurance business in a senior leadership role supporting the Head of Third Party Claims.

You will play a pivotal senior leadership role within the Third Party Claims function, working to support the Head of Third Party Claims to shape strategy, technical excellence, operational performance and future transformation. The role combines deep technical claims expertise with leadership across complex indemnity areas including bodily injury, credit hire, fraud, recoveries and litigation, alongside responsibility for supporting our digital, AI and automation journey. This is a high profile and varied position offering the successful candidate real scope to influence departmental direction, lead strategic projects, and build a career pathway into broader senior leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Claims Leadership
    • Support the Head of Third Party Claims in delivering departmental strategy, performance and governance.
    • Provide oversight and referral support on high-value, complex and sensitive claims.
    • Lead technical strategy to improve indemnity outcomes across bodily injury, hire, fraud, litigation and recoveries.
    • Ensure robust controls, technical consistency and best practice claims handling standards.
    • Act as a senior escalation point for technical and operational decision making.
    • Monitor emerging market trends, legal developments and industry risks.
  • Performance & Continuous Improvement
    • Use MI, analytics and insight to identify trends, leakage opportunities and performance improvements.
    • Design and implement action plans to improve indemnity spend, lifecycle times and customer outcomes.
    • Lead technical audits, assurance activity and governance reporting.
    • Identify training needs and support capability uplift across the wider claims function.
  • Transformation, AI & Digital Delivery
    • Support the department’s AI, automation and digital roadmap.
    • Lead or sponsor projects that modernise claims handling processes and improve efficiency.
    • Work with internal stakeholders and external partners on initiatives such as workflow automation, digital claims journeys, fraud technology and operational tooling.
    • Help translate business opportunities into practical delivery plans with measurable outcomes.
    • Champion innovation whilst ensuring appropriate governance, controls and customer fairness.
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management
    • Deputise for the Head of Third Party Claims where required.
    • Coach and mentor managers and technical colleagues across the function.
    • Build strong relationships with suppliers, legal partners and key internal stakeholders.
    • Influence to deliver change and performance improvements.
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications
  • Essential
    • Significant experience within motor claims, including bodily injury, credit hire, fraud and recoveries.
    • Strong technical claims knowledge with experience handling complex / high-value matters.
    • Proven experience using MI and data insight to improve performance.
    • Demonstrable leadership experience within claims operations or technical management.
    • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
    • Experience leading projects, change initiatives or transformation activity.
    • Commercial mindset with focus on indemnity control and customer outcomes.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desirable
    • Exposure to AI, automation, digital claims tools or innovation programmes.
    • Experience working with external suppliers, legal panels or technology partners.
    • Dip CII qualified (or working towards).
    • Degree level education or equivalent experience.
